I find the game tips presented within the game quite informative. I mean the ones which are displayed when the map and game mode are revealed, before the unit composition shows.

However, I rarely managed to read them completely, might be partly due to the fact that English is not my native language.

I was wondering, is there a collection or even complete list of all those nice and really helpful tips accessable somewhere on the forum or the website?

I may be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure some of those aren't quite right anymore. I don't often get all the way through one because of how fast my game loads though, so that's speculation a little bit.

A list could possibly be made.

Many are button commands and when to use them.
"Push N to activate night vision at night."
"Push H to activate thermals."
"Push R to target enemies."

Some are common sense.
"Shooting causes damage. Shoot the red guys. Don't shoot the blue."
"Defeat enemies by attacking."

Then some are just there:
"The Hula Girl is not a lie."
"Comstar is monitoring all communications."
"Insert helpful text here."

If I remember right (I changed a lot of my keys) F12

Edit: Check the keybindings in game

Stores them under your "User" file
On my Win7 PC it is
"User"(sorry, not sharing my PC username) / Saved Games / Mechwarrior Online / Screenshots

Thanks, F12 does the trick.

However, it is not listed as a keybinding in the game.

PrtScrn also works

A few might be off. I haven't checked recently, but most are vague enough to be correct and stand the test of time. For instance, I think there's one that talks about how BAP counters ECM within a certain range, but doesn't list the range in the tip.

Thought it was, but you are right

Does that one actually make a screenshot - or are you referring to the Windows function of taking a temporary picture of your screen
(In which case you can only save one at a time until you copy it into another image file)

Nope, it actually saves a pic in your folder.

You might want to read through the FAQ section if that's still a question. It's still the "teaser" recent FAQ thread on the forum main page

I collected the in-game tips over the last week. Here is what I got so far. Maybe it helps someone that like me was looking for a list of them.

A 'legged' 'Mech can only move at 50% normal speed or 40 kp/h, whichever is slower.
A 'Mech affected by an enemy ECM is unable to transmit or receive information
A 'Mech cannot survive without both legs, the center torso or the head. A 'Mech equipped with an XL engine will also die if either side torso is destroyed.
A 'Mech shielded by an allied ECM cannot be targeted by any other 'Mech standing more than 180m away.
A hollow triangle represents a 'Mech that is not targeted by any teammates. A filled triangle means someone is targetting that 'Mech. Target 'Mechs that are already targeted by your team.
Add people you enjoy playing with to your friends list.
All weapons generate heat when fired. When a 'Mech is too hot, it will automatically shut down while the 'Mech cools off. A shutdown 'Mech is incredibly vulnerable and will take damage if shut down for too long.
An allied ECM in Counter-mode will disable the nearest enemy ECM in Disrupt-mode.
An assault 'Mech attacked head on as a scout can be suicide. Try to flank and get behind.
Animals were not harmed in the development of MechWarrior Online. Only humans were harmed.
Armor on the torso and side torso is shared between the front and the back. Choose for your situatio and playstyle where you need the most.
Be careful when using jump jets. Falling long distances can cause damage.
Be nice to novice pilots. Remember that we all started as new players at some point.
Be sure to check for your target's weak points. Damage already sustained is shown; your target may already be close to its demise.
Being protected by an ECM prevents an enemy Beagle Active Probe from providing bonuses.
Can't see a thing in River City night? Press 'N' for night vision or 'H' for thermal vision.
Completing the BASIC efficiency trees of 3 chassis variants of the same type will bring greater rewards.
Continued, sustained damage will transfer from a destroyed location to the next adjacent part.
Convert 'Mech XP to GXP in the Pilot Lab to unlock efficiencies across other 'Mech chassis variants.
Don't forget to equip approiate ammo when mounting a new weapon that requires it.
Double heat sinks occupy 3 slots and increase normal heat dissipation over a regular heat sink by 1.4x.
Each 'Mech has a maximum weight it can carry. Be sure to balance you 'Mech as effectively as possible between your needs for ammunition, weaponry, heat management, armor and support items.
Endosteel and Ferro Fibrous armour are two ways to free up additional weight for more flexibility in the 'Mech loadout. Each comes at a cost of 14 internal slots.
Enemy 'Mechs affected by a NARC will cause allies to acquire missile locks 75% faster.
For latest news and forum discussions, head over to www.mwomercs.com.
For the TAG laser to be effective, it should constantly remain on the target.
Gauss rifles are more likely to be critted than other weapon types and will explode when destroyed.
General XP (GXP) can be used to unlock modules or unlock efficiencies across all 'Mechs.
Grouping arm weapons separately from torso weapons allows for greater flexibility when engaging enemies of varying speed.
Heat sinks in the legs are more effective when submerged in water.
Hero 'Mechs are variants with unique patterns. hard points and grant a 30% C-Bills bonus. Hero 'Mechs can be bought with MC in the Mech Lab.
If you are targeted by incomming missiles, be sure to take cover. Hide behind terrain or buildings as fast as you can.
If you experience instability, try using the Repair tool in the patcher - click the cog icon.
If you find that you're overheating in battle, consider adding more heatsinks, upgrading to double heatsinks or slowing your rate of fire.
Larger engines will allow your 'Mech to move faster. XL engines cost more, occupy more slots but weigh less.
Locked-on missiles fired at a target affected by a Narc will receive a 100% bonus increase in their attacking strength.
Long Range Missiles (LRM) have a minimum arming range. When fired at a target within that range, they will do 0 damage.
LRM - Long Range Missile, SRM - Short Range Missile, SSRM - Streak Short Range Missile.
Many 'Mechs do not have full armor by default.
MC means MechWarrior Credits. Use them to purchase Hero 'Mechs, Mech Bays, Premium Time and much much more.
Mechs and items can be sold in the Mech Lab for C-Bills. Be careful, this is non-reversableand permanent.
Modules can offer interesting abilities once unlocked to aid you in the heat of battle.
Mounting ammo into a easily destructable area is risky as unspent ammo can explode. Mitigate this risk with C.A.S.E.
Multiple Tag lasers do not stack bonuses together.
Narc and Tag stack together for bigger bonuses.
NARCs attached to 'Mechs shielded by an allied ECM cannot broadcast but remain active.
Need more tips? Visit the Training Grounds page at mwomercs.com.
Only some 'Mech variants can equip an ECM.
Own too many 'Mechs? Mech Bay slots allow you to purchase and store more 'Mechs.
Premium Time grants you a 50% bonus to both XP and C-Bills. Premium time can be bought with MC in the Mech Lab.
Press 'B' to see the Battlegrid. From here the commander can issue orders to the team. Take command yourself if you're up for the challenge.
Press 'N' to enable Night Vision.
Press 'Q' to see all available information of 'Mechs in the battlefield.
Press 'R' to target an enemy when the red triangle is in view.
Press 'Right Control' to assign a weapon to a group. Use the Arrow Keys to change selected weapon or group.
Press 'T' to chat with all players on the battlefield.
Press 'Unbound' to center your torso to the direction of your legs.
Press 'X' to completely stop.
Press 'Y' to chat with your team.
Press 'Z' to zoom in to provide improved precission for long range weapons.
Press and hold 'Left Control' to look around the cockpit.
Pressing 'F4' allows you to engage and disengage the 3rd person view drone.
Range indicated for LRM's indicates the maximum travel distance of each missile. Take into account the likely trajectory when firing at a target close to maximum range.
Recruit friends and form a group. Teamwork = Victory
Remember that your legs and torso can face in different directions. Use the mini-map arrow to orient your movement in relation to your torso's field of view. You can press 'C' to re-center your view.
Running into your teammates or enemies will result in damage to both you and the other 'Mech.
Shooting an enemy 'Mech with a Tag will cause allies to acquire missile locks 50% faster and allied locked-on missiles to receive a 50% bonus on their tracking strength.
Short Range Missiles arm immideately when fired.
The % health is a total of all parts that make up a 'Mech. Each component of a 'Mech has its own health and may be critical to the survival of that 'Mech.
The Anti-Missile-System (AMS) will destroy missiles passing within 120m of your 'Mech, prioritizing those targeted on you.
The Artemis IV Fire Control System improves the accuracy of your missiles.
The Beagle Active Probe allows you to detect powered down 'Mechs if they are within 120m of you.
The Beagle Active Probe allows you to receive information about enemy 'Mechs 25% faster.
The Hula girls is not a lie.
The more jump jets you have, the higher you can fly.
Think of your 'Mech as a walking tank. You must control the torso idenpendantly from the legs.
Trial 'Mech loadouts and their camouflage cannot be changed.
Trial 'Mechs are an awesome way to try a new chassis type before you buy.
Trial 'Mechs will change over time.
Unbound is mapped to fire the currently selected weapons group. Be mindful of which group you have selected when you finish editing your setup.
Unlock all Elite efficiencies for 3 variants of one weight class to get one extra Module slot for your 'Mechs.
Use XP earned in the Skills tab to unlock efficiencies in your owned 'Mechs.
Using chainfire 'Backspace' can help manage head generated over time.
Weapon ranges indicated show the maximum distance for optimal damage. Damage can be dealt beyond that range for some weapons, but at a reduced rate.
Weapons, ammo and equipped items are destroyed independantly. However, a destroyed arm will lose all heatsinks, ammo, weapons and other items contained within.
When a component has no armour, there is a 25% chance to crit one slot, 14% to crit two slots. and 3% to crit three slots with each additional hit.
Where your armor is destroyed, your weapons and equipped items are vulnerable to critical hits.
XL engines allow for tremendous speed and lower weight, but at the cost of increased vulnerability and slots used in both side torsi.
You can customize, tweak and improve your owned 'Mechs in the Mech Lab.
You can press 'J' on your keyboard to switch your ECM into Counter-mode.
Your match earnings are based on your performance. Be a valuable asset to your team to reap the highest rewards.

I knew that some of them were dated. These ones don't take clan mechs into account. Clan XLs take both STs for an ST engine kill, Clan DHS are two slots, and Clan ES and FF are locked, but only cost 7 crits on the mechs that have them.

This is more situational than the tip would indicate. A lot of the time it is better to target an untargeted mech because doing so will alert people to the additional enemy presence.

Being protected by an ECM prevents an enemy Beagle Active Probe from providing bonuses.

Caveat: BAP will disable any single ECM close enough that you could target the mech equipped with it anyway, and if it is farther away than BAPs counter range, BAP bonuses would not be applicable anyway, since BAP is a target info gathering and sensor range bonus outside that distance. You have to be close to detect shutdown mechs, and they have to have more ECM than you have BAP in an area to benefit from ECM at all.

Addendum: at a penalty. Don't shoot for the broken hitbox if you can help it. You'll lose damage.

But still not as effective as DHS. Don't rely on water cooling to save you; it just isn't good enough.

Hmm, no idea why putting the information into a table will add that much empty space before the table.

I'll leave it that way for now, since the table format definately makes for an easier reading of the information itself.

I've been doing some research on this, you can open MechWarrior Online/game/localized/English.pak using 7zip, extract the file contained in the archive ( TheRealLoc.xml ) open that with any kind of browser or text editor and search it for one of the tips, you'll find all of them. I might take the time to copy them, it takes quite a bit of reformatting so this would take a while.

Edit:

Spoiler

Okay I copied and formatted the whole list, and replaced all keybind references with the default keybindings. I found exactly one tip that is blatantly false, there's a few others that might not be entirely accurate but for the most part it looks good.

And OP, its not you - English is my first language, I have degrees in English Lit, I read about 10,000 words through the course of the day. And even I was having trouble reading them before they blipped off screen.

They simply don't have them on screen long enough to comprehend.

And I say "comprehend" because its easy to read them all before they WHOOSH away once you already understand them, because your brain knows what to expect and can just scan them.

Reading them the 1st time is slower because you are trying to take in meaning you don't know.

And as these are meant for new players, PGI should look at increasing the time tips stay on screen by 50%
