I concur with Kjudoon. As long as clans get to drop in even numbers, they don't get any cool flavor. PGI had a couple options on balancing clans, and they chose the only one that let them do as little as possible - balancing clan mechs on a 12v12 mixed team scale. Removing mixed teams would lose paying customers, it would cause massive queue issues in every game mode, and it would likely require most players to pick one side or the other permanently. I don't like seeing 12 clan mechs on one team and realizing they're not drastically better like they're supposed to be...but I also like hotswapping between my Timberwolf and my dozen odd IS mechs at will.

Reasons to be IS: more mechs, more equipment, actual pay, larger empires, centuries old mechs (fluff explains quirks), lots of heros, lots of customization.

Reasons to be Clan: you're a fluffsperg, you like facerolling CW.

If you're looking for the meta, content meta says go IS. Raw damage numbers says go Clan. Even with the higher heat, longer cooldown timers, and longer fire duration, they still do more damage. SOME IS mechs have quirks that make it a close fight, not all.

Then again, clan still has a rank 7 targeting computer, which is basically digital god.

tcmk7 is downright terrible. Its basically 7 tons and 7 slots for what amounts to a little bit more than double the buffs from a 1 ton 1 slot mk1.

This change was MADE for the Cent. First off it has 6 quirks that help out large lasers(3 energy, 3 LL specific). Secondly now I can fire all three and then shield fast. I knew as soon as I heard about this change that I needed to play my cent that has been collecting dust. The first game I had 2 kills and 380 dmg, the only 2 kills on the team and top dmg btw. My second game I got this:

This was good enough for a win, top dmg, and top kills in the room with no consumables and only a LL range module. This mech as been reborn as far as I'm concerned. 6 out of the needed 24 kills for this challenge I just started in two games isn't bad. Especially since I got 5 my first game in the BJ-1x.

update: 3rd game; 4 kills and 480ish dmg. Not a fluke?

This explains why the only way clans win in CW is highly co ordinative rushes while IS boil it down to brute force (or rushing... the IS light rushes work better).

As I start to realise more and more the huge gap between IS and Clan... I am starting to think that I should leave MW: O.

I've stuck since day 1 and not ever thought this game was short from awesome. But seeing that at the momment most IS mechs are pooping on clans. Regardless of the changes to those mechs.

(Atm = 1 thunderbolt is equal to 4 warhawk (TC equiped) in ER PPC boating)
(Sneak peak quirks = 1 thunderbolt is equal to 1 warhawk (TC forgotten, there is no way clans can compete with 30% ER PPC velocity to even bother)
(many other eg's as above that I could list but meh...)

but meh. Guess the other butthurts also are at fault, people thinking that an ER medium laser is better in every way to a large laser and such. Guess things won't change for awhile.

I fully expect many easy mode clan pilots to quit and or cry rivers when the omni mech vrs battlemech is more balanced. They didnt want a good fight to begin with.

I wonder what the win, loss ratio is, Clan vrs IS. I also wonder how many Clan players thought that was a fair fight and balanced? :)

Its a shame we cant have 10 release day clan mech vs 16 IS mechs. That would be fun.Gives IS the numbers and us a target rich enviroment.

Life must be hard in the group drops. I have only ever solo pug dropped and I haven't found an instance that a clan mech has scared me away. In pug drops they rarely do anything. In my Jenner storm crows look like really tall Cicadas.

I will say one thing; since the clan invasion my K:D has gone up and I only play IS mechs so I'm fine with the balance. As I pug player I don't see any problems. Lots of new players dropping in trials :)

It's so predictable, the only clan mechs I see are: Dire, Timber, Storm,. You know it's the tryhards and they do the worst. They can't possibly bring themselves to have fun. They just try to meta through the game. I guess I'll just keep poking along with my IS mediums and their 400dmg average. I make things work.

As CW was announced an endgame content, i'd say it would be interesting to see a decent clan 12-man vs decent IS 12-man ( close to equal as teams themselves ) in different modes, maps, sides and so on. The bell of broken balance would be repeatedly the different winner as teams change over. Also, this can help making some basics of good balance - ~equality of TOP IS and TOP Clan drop decks.

If laser hitreg wasn't so appalling for those of us with >200 ping then I'm sure this would be very welcome news.

Put them back to release and take the IS quirks away and I am all for 2 v 3. However, Clan already got nerfed and the if this LL/ LPL stays in effect for IS with the quirk system, we have past the balance point for a 12 v 12.

Hmmm... Got to ask you since your in a similar boat...

Play CW much ? Do notice Lasers Hit reg better in CW servers compared to the normal public servers ?
