Or, you know... just make it something that the player can choose. Changing out physical parts of 'mech bodies WAS in the game's plan, originally...

That would also be very cool. But I think it would be alot more work on PGI's part and they have their hands full. Simply restoring the old design shouldn't take but a few minutes of work.

And some of my other favorites are yet to be "cursed" with dynamic hardpoints, the CTF, the DRG, the AWS, and the CDA.

Because the YLW was OP.
People were so intimidated by the pure size of my Wang that they ran away, out of bounds. They just can't handle the wang.

Sorry guys, looks like it's not on the radar anytime soon. Big thanks to Alex G. for stepping up once again and asking the hard questions!

Regarding the YLW....I've just spoken with the art department about it. Unfortunately, the answer isn't what you're hoping for.
There are no plans to revert the YLW back to the original arm style. As cool as it may have looked, the decision was made to standardize the appearance of the AC weaponry for all 'Mechs. Standing the original YLW next to another AC/20-equipped 'Mech was odd-looking from a functional standpoint, and highlighted the fact that the Centurion would be running at a hitbox disadvantage due to the extra geometry compared to other AC/20 loadouts.
