Greetings:
I'm not one to write much in forums unless very displeased. I have always supported this game with all the changes but today I have had my heart cut out from my chest. I know not many people like the Blackjack but I have always stuck with it and tweaked it th best i can and has become my favorite mech. Today I found out the hard way that the AC5 quirk is gone and replaced with an AC2 quirk. I jump in a game and noticed the slow rate of fire with my cooldown and range modules, do an average-low score and no kills. I head to mech lab and there it is, AC2 quirks instead of the powerful AC5.

WHY? suddenly the innner sphere has a good, powerful mech and you NERF it? It makes no sense because for it to use the AC5 quirk and be dangerous using 2 AC5s it becomes very dangerous for its XL engine and limited ammo. It was a good balancing Quirk people. If any friends of the developers, or developers themselves where getting whooped by Blackjacks 1DC and their AC5s then they should be more careful and pilot their mechs away. Besides, having 2 blackjack variants with AC2 quirks makes no sense.

I have spent a lot of million c-bills perfecting different variants of the Blackjacks and when suddenly have the best build and buy all the modules (not on discount at that time), I get shafted. This change is not for the best balancing of the game, the AC5s are the best weapon of the inner sphere and the best medium mech to use it is denied.

I formally open a protest to the developers about this change and would like it back. It was the best mech i play with and most enjoyable. Even more enjoyable than a Direwolf with quad UAC5s. Please return the quirk or have this mechwarrior hunt down every developer he sees in game and call Zellbringen if he is in same team.

Eveyone else with me please post agreement to make this a notable topic and have the developers consider the return of the AC5 quirk to the Blackjack-1DC.

Also, add the LPL buffs back to the 1X, devs!

I second the poster above. It's one thing if you thought the quirk was over-powered and decided to adjust the cooldown on the AC5, but to change the weapon type entirely is lame. Any time / money that was spent improving the AC/5 for use on this mech is now wasted. Change it back to the AC/5 and adjust the quirk would be the proper fix.

It happened to me with the Grid Iron. Loved having the UAC5 quirks. Then, all of a sudden, they decided to change it to the Gauss Rifle. 'Cause we need more of those...

My AC2 blackjack begs the differ.

Really though, a 2x AC2 build is better. More range, more DPS, more tonnage for other stuff.

Also Banshee 3M. All LPL quirks dropped. Instead of rare and fun LP quirk now we got boring all energy weapon quirks. NotFun.com

Never owned one but I always thought the 1DC was fine - my Wolverine 6R still has the AC5 quirks....so what was the logic to remove it from the 1DC? Did you favour the Wolver over the BJ....

Why didn't you just reduce the benefits a tad rather then rebuild it ground up?

Just like you did to all LPL quirk mechs, you got rid of them rather then re-adjust. Not cool.

I don't get it either why we need two Blackjacks with Ac2 quirks. The DC was fine! Besides I use to play the BJ-1 with an Ac20 which is a lot of fun on a fast mech with JJ's.

I agree with this too. I like the AC 2 quirks more than I did the old AC 5 quirks. I think this is an improvement.

More range is nothing worth and the DPS is lower. The Ac2 Version is weaker and you can't fight heavys or assaults. With this quirks the Mech is dead meat.

SIGNED!!!

The BJ-1DC change is the biggest imprudence of this Quirk pass. Even the WVR-6K changes are nothing compared to this. As Tresspasser has explained the old 1DC was strong but had significant weaknesses, but still I could have accepted a reduction of 10% AC/5 cooldown quirks for example.

But destroying this mech by giving all AC variants viable Quirks for completely useless AC/2 only??? That must be a joke. I mean the AC/2 is a mostly useless weapon in this game. The only sensible usecase might be some dakka assaults build in combination with AC/5. The range is useless as you can only hit braindead or afk enemies on 800m+ given you want to have an acceptable hitchance to ammo consumption ratio. Furthermore the DPS to HPS ratio of this weapon is just way too bad to make it a viable option in 99% of cases.

I can live with the -1x changes (I'm sticking to laser vomit, regardless), but...

...the -1DC changes are absurd. What was otherwise a useless variant had incredible life breathed into it using the AC5 quirk.

Now I feel like I have a wasted mechbay again. Please revert the changes or use a quirk that effects all ballistics for this variant.

I haven't tried the dual AC2 since the change. However I really did like my 2xAC5 2xML BJ1-DC, had trouble with the chassis at first but now I love being able to send damage down range in a support role. Its something else to make an assault back down.

I feel like the AC5 would have been a better option then AC2. Its a good balancing mechanic, to be effective you need a larger engine I run a STD200, 2x AC5, 2x ML, 4tons ammo. Thats is a fairly limited ammo capacity and I find myself running low or out by mid game and using the ML to pick off what I can. That aside its a 500dmg/game mech easy. I must mastered the chassis and run range 5 and cooldown 5.
Id welcome the AC5 back.

We just have to live with the fact that PGI will nerf every IS Mech that can compete to some degree with the Mechs of their "true" costumers. This Quirkpass was a significant set-back for all IS pilots, but the crybabies of the clanners (that does not mean that all clanners are like that) will continue to whine until PGI takes away everything worth playing and we are only allowed to roll stockmechs with SHS.

Okay, okay. I'm a Clan player mainly and believe me, I am far more bothered by the ERPPC Thud spam (which is now past, I hope) than by some Blackjack plinking away at me with AC/5s. I'm not bothered by it at all.

Which is why this puzzles me. Isn't the BJ-1 the AC/2 mech of the bunch? Now we have two nigh-identical mechs... Just like pre-quirkening. It makes nary a lick of sense to suddenly blam the -1DC's AC/5 quirks without any prior explanation...

I've never owned a Blackjack, and was looking into getting a 45 tonner to fit in my CW dropdecks. Always loved the Jaegermech, so this seemed like a logical choice.

But then I see that 2 BJ variants are practically identical in both hardpoints and quirks. That just doesn't make any sense. I love using AC5s myself on other chassis, so yeah, I'm all in favour of having the 1DC variant go back to AC5 quirks. If they were indeed too strong, then tweak them down a notch, but removing the weapon entirely seems like a kneejerk reaction.

The problem is not the BJ-1DC - its the AC 2 in direct comparison to AC5.
So you can still run the AC 5 on the DC and still got better performance as the AC2.

Each hit of a AC 5 deals more damage as a single hit of a AC 2 up to 1150m.
The heat burden of the AC 2 is a bad joke.

If you want to fix things = increase heat for the AC 5 and reduce heat for AC 2 - AND increase the range for the AC 2.

BJ-DC with AC5 was beautiful
BJ-X with medlas and LPL quirks was beautiful
BJ-Arrow is fine now
BJ-1 needs AC-20 quirks to match "pay to win" Champion build (Nobody is, or ever will use AC-2)

The problem is that BJ-1DC + 2xAC5 used to have 15 DPS.
Now it's got 8.5 DPS.
The mech's damage output has been reduced by 40%.
