I wonder what light 'mechs we'll see other than the Jenner? I must say, the Jenner is probably my LEAST favorite light 'mech...

Ravens... Firemoths... heck even the Flea (or as I know it, the Fire Ant) I think are more interesting and fun to play as. What's your favorite light 'mech, and what do you expect to see in game on release?

I am a bit outdated as far as piloting mechs go as I have not played since MPBT solaris But i always enjoying jousting with my little jenner, and flying over catapults and knocking out their engine. I have been trying to play just the 4 classes they have released so far with limited success although thats mainly part to the people I play with have actually played MW4 before and have a idea on what they are doing compared to me.;) You never did say what your Fav was Melissia?

Panther, I'm a sucker of the "humanoid with a big gun on one arm" theme.

I like the jenners, dashers and I think the raven will be a serious contender with this if they're serious about a recon and information role.

Valkyrie
Ostscout
Thorn
Flea
Mongoose
Hornet
Falcon
Hermes
Hussar
Raven
Wolfhound
Panther
Firestarter
Jenner
Urbanmech
Spider

There are a LOT, and thats just the Inner Sphere lights.

You know, if you find the Jenner to be "boring", then I'd dare say you weren't using it properly.

The Jenner is a great little 'mech, with a punch that's equal to something closer mid-high-end mediums. It's also speedy as all heck, but it comes at the cost of heat dissipation.

The way the Jenner is meant to be used is to run in behind a larger opponent - Let's say a Warhammer, and alpha-strike at it's rear side, hopefully coring it's fragile back armor; then it runs or jumps off into cover in order to cool off to fire another volley. It's kind of like jump-sniping in a way, but the Jenner requires you to be almost right on top of the enemy in order to land your hits. This will be nicely portrayed if the Cone of Fire rules are included in the game.

The Jenner is probably one of the best 'mechs for flanking larger opponents and savaging their back armor. It's also good for disrupting supply lines and otherwise attacking targets and quickly retreating before any defenders can react.

A Jenner might not have any weapons that get oohs or aahs, like the Panthers' PPC or a Flea's Flamer, nor does it have a Jenner's ECM systems, but for a mechwarrior that fights by the seat of his pants - looking for high-speed thrill-kills, the Jenner is an excellent choice.

Or more likely it's just not the 'mech for me.

I preferred the Raven. Sure it's somewhat slower, but it makes up for that with its electronic warfare equipment and lance support ability, so it can easily sneak around enemy 'mechs and tag them with a Narc, blast them in weak rear armor, then run away ducking behind a hill or building without any problems-- while the teammates launch nasty volleys of long ranged missiles at the tagged enemy.

The Jenner might be a better solo player, but 'mechs don't usually operate solo.

Oh, but it's not meant to be solo at all, A jenner on it's own is usually a dead jenner. It's strongest when there are slower, scarier allies with it.

That way, it can pop in behind a potential target and use a scissors attack, striking at the back armor. If the target tries to turn around to face the Jenner, it exposes it's rear armor to the Bigger target.

There are very few 'mechs that can operate solo, and on the low end of the scale, that usually means recon 'mechs that aren't meant to be fighting at all. Spider, Cicada, and Assassins, as examples. Lights are rarely ever lone-wolfing unless they're lone-wolfing against infantry.

I'll grant that certain 'mechs don't suit others' tastes, but I hardly consider the Jenner a poor choice at all. A Hornet or Vulcan is a bad choice, but a Jenner? Nope.

I always have wanted to get inside a Thorn, so I really hope that it will be in game. Other team takes nothing but assaults... get me my 20 ton Thorn!

Gimme some 20 tonners with laser weapons. Put those 10 mil cbill 100 ton atlasers to shame when they realize taking the biggest and the baddest can be a logistical nightmare. I hope in many circumstances taking x5 fleas (think about swapping damaged parts) vs one big mech will favour the light guys.

Pretty much, the Jenner 7F or Fire Javelin will end up ruling all other lights - they'll have the mobility, armor and firepower all the other stock 'Mechs are lacking - pretty much perfection and even if you could fully customize your 'Mechs you'd end up with something like them because they are so good.

In the board game, though, give me a WLF-2 Wolfhound. Its pretty much a medium 'Mech disguised as a light.

The Jenner is a Locust on PCP. It trades a little running speed for more guns and some jump jets. A little tweaking like replacing teh SRM4 with more armor (like the prototypes) and you have a decent mech.

The Spider is nice and mobile with decent firepower and armor considering it's ability to flank enemies and avoid being hit.

But I have a soft spot in my heart for the Locust, especially the "Unseen" rendering of it. The original LCT-1 series is fast and has pretty good armor for a Light, and some (like the 1E) have decent firepower too.

Then there is the LCT-6M... twin ER Mediums and a 240XL make for a dangerous 20-tonner.

My favorite from playing MW4 has become a tie between the Cougar and the Raven
(the Panther is an honorable mention as well)
Beyond the scope of that game, the Jenner is also a contender

However, I will admit that light 'mechs are not my forte ;)
