So what do you think is best post perk dual gauss platform.
I think I'll be re-buying Jegger A, due to 10 velocity and 20 range.

It's risky to go dual Gauss in the A because its arm missile launchers have bigger hitboxes than the other Jagers. Makes it more likely they'll get opened up, take a critical hit, have the Gauss rifle explode, and take your XL engine with it.

The S is the safer alternative. It also has a cooldown quirk.

Post perk? I don't follow. Has there been some information about gauss rifles in a Town Hall or something? Do you mean quirks, or are we now getting perks to modify the quirks that modify core stats?

Doesn't CASE prevent this?

case doesn't stop explosions but it keeps it from spreading to other areas.

And more specifically, you can't put CASE in the arm so the Gauss explosion in the arm will transfer to the side torso and destroy the XL engine.

CASE in the side torso can prevent the damage from spreading to the center torso, but once the XL engine is destroyed that's pretty pointless.

IS Mech, Gauss in arm or side torso, XL engine..bad juju, even with CASE. CASE simply stops the spread of any exploding ammo damage, critical hits to a Gauss make it explode like ammo. XL engines for IS requires 3 slots per side torso, so while the CASE prevents that explosion from going into the CT, your side torso will still probably be blown apart, which means 3 engine hits, which is death.

If we had repair and rearm, CASE would also make it cheaper to fix your exploded XL engine.

IS case is torso only. and with an XL it's not really helpful.

I'd take a cat K2 as dual gauss every day, after that the Ilya. King crab of course is king of dual gauss because paired with 2 PPCs it's unstoppable.

with the ranges that engagements usually happen, not seeing where the extra range is useful. with the module what do you get round 800m?

could see a few maps where it would work but otherwise, seems like the S can do the same thing. You still get 7.5% veocity (vs 10), 10% range (vs 20), and you get 7.5% cooldown (A does not get this). Plus no giant nubs on the arms and you get 4 MLs on there for back up.

Dual Gauss is nice but better use the Jager-A for AC20 and/or SRMs for the extra range. Ironic, considering the fact that it was suppose to be LRM platform.
