Shadow Cat is DOA, not enough hardpoints to support MWO boating meta.

I think of the Scat as a Badder with ECM, JJs, the ability to "sprint," an extra hardpoint, more armor, and possibly higher hardpoint mounts.

Obviously not a Doomcrow, but it would be difficult for it to turn out worse than the existing 45 tonners. Might be more desirable to use than a Nova, for whatever that's worth.

Good to see more clan mechs inbound. I can hope that means the Bushwacker and Mauler will be in the next inner Sphere one. (Unless Harmony Gold goes **** up in the interim then maybe we can get the other "popular demand" mechs. :) )

Russ specifically mentioned the Mauler and Black Knight for the IS coming up, probably the next IS package. Bushwacker, hard to say, it was in testing during the current timeline but until after Tukayyid there weren't any operational due to design issues fixed after a raid into Clan territory that got design specs for the Mad Dog, which allowed them to fix the design issues. Considering most of the variants of the 'Wacker can't be done until 3062 or later...eh, who knows.

Certainly hope this means we get MASC finally (at least for slow clan mechs and maybe certain slow IS mechs too).

Also.... WOO! Shadow Cat and Cauldron Born are coming!

Russ said we'll get MASC, but he refused to say how it would work, but it WILL work..in some fashion. Nothing was said about adding it as equipment we can add to other Mechs, but there's no reason why not, if it's working, it's just tonnage/crit space that has to be given up by tonnage/20.

Personally, I'd go with -
MASC is a toggled option, set time to run at increased speed cap, when time runs out, move at half speed for X time frame, rechargable. Destruction of any MASC critslot slows you to half speed.

Don't really see being able to get away with MASC going out and freezing your Mech in place, I'm sure the outcry over that would be epic, so the half speed on destruction of the crits gives you a reason to be very sure you want that extra speed.

I'd personally like something similar to MW3's heat-based MASC, but with some changes. Primarily, I think that the amount of heat gained would start a bit low, but scale up exponentially over time similar to Flamers (but at a faster rate). Using it only a little bit would only limit your damage output (heat is the primary DPS limiter) by a little bit, but trying to use it often would make your heat spike up instantly and make your damage output drop hard.

I think Paul once said that MASC would just cause internal leg damage when used too much, which would probably harm the Moth a lot more than the larger MASC mechs if we ever got it...

MASC creating some heat, no, that's really not much of a balancing feature there, too easy to bypass totally, even with ghost heat. MASC was always something you put on your Mech with the full knowledge that you could very easily lock your Mech in place at any time, big risk there for extra speed when you want it. It goes out due to the actuators not being built to handle the extra speed/torque it creates by making the myomer move faster.

No, they need to make MASC have a real side effect when it's overused, and half speed is a good hit that doesn't make you useless. After all, MASC doubles your walk speed so there really needs to be a serious counterbalance to offset that advantage it gives. We WILL get collisions back some day(Russ was clear last night, it WILL come back), so imagine someone running at 200 due to MASC hitting your Atlas/Dire, that's a nasty hit to both of you, it would kill the Light that hit you(only things capable of that speed) and it would seriously mess up your 100 tonner, probably rip a leg right off and leave the other leg with parts of that Light sticking through the armor. For that you say make it create some extra heat? Seriously, my Spider 5K would LOVE that, no issues at all, same with more than a few other Lights who use ballistics, I'd never have to turn MASC off. Got to give it a real risk for the reward, half speed if it craps out or gets shot out works nicely.

could add a lock mechanic like how we have when you get legged.

use MASC, speed increases,
Get hit and decrease in speed a bit.

Would form a good counter balance for lights using it (if any get added) since the leg shield would be great.

They could also have it do 1% internal leg damage per second, so use it too long, and you leg yourself....

The clan mechs with MASC will not get any choice about having it, and i very much doubt it will be available to any mech that doesnt come with it stock, so harsh penalties seem.. unfair. If i could i would most certainly ditch it in favour of guns, but i wont have that choice

halving the speed if it gets destroyed adds a GIGANTIC flaw to the executioner for example, since its fixed and known to be in the LT, people will just shoot the LT off and halve its speed. Less of an issue for the SCat because its in the CT, but still. Penalties for destroyed MASC are an absolute no no.

If you let my Scat remove its MASC, you can do anything you want with the item. ;)

I wouldn't mind the extra 2 tons...

HAH! yes, that would be ideal. straight in the bin, neither the Scat or the Glad really have the tonnage to be wasting on MASC. Id put it on the Whale if i was allowed to, but i wont be

You really sure you don't want a temporary top speed of about 100 kph on your Daishi? :D

I don't think you can do both MASC and TSM.... ontop of that TSM is an IS only thing....

I found out in SSW a minute ago that MASC and TSM sadly don't stack. :(

no because with all the tonnage used on an XL400 and MASC it wouldn't BE a Daishi, cos it wouldn't have enough tonnage for weapons

If you could add Endo and FF, it would have about the same pod space as a Warhawk. It would be mega hilarious. :D :D :D :D :D
