Depends on what they do with the arms. Leave them straight it might be ok with little/nothing in the "ears" if they angle them down it'll be about as useful as a phract

dpeends if its gettign Nova shaped it may get many issues, if its getting more shadow cat shaped it gonna be a evil hill humper with gauss, or ppc's

can't wait to see the concept art, it will tell a lot.

Quite probably my favourite mech ever prior to MWO. (now the Locust has edged slightly ahead.)

May need to put in an order to Ral Partha for a TT one. (technically slightly out of time line for our games atm, but sod it)

If it's going to be similarily broad in MWO, I wonder how it will be able to walk/run.

That most original Battletech Mech designs are ridiculous like hell is obvious to see. Getting them halfway unugly and viable is another story (which PGI has done a pretty amazing job, mostly, maybe apart from the Battlemaster).

It has a lot of potential to be good, but I don't think it could take the Mad Cat off its pedastal. It will definitely shake up the Clan heavy roster unless its hitboxes or something get borked.

More firepower, less armor. Fair trade vs the Timberwolf, IMO. And, yes. One of my four will have two gauss and an ermlas.

Compared to a Mad Cat with 2 JJs equipped, the Cauldron Born will have one extra ton to play with (if we try to at least equal the Mad Cat's internal DHS count).

We could. But the mech lends itself to ballistics extremely well. Might be very little need outside of the Bravo configuration to go heavy on the Dubs.

Cauldron-Born Prime
  • 1x Gauss Rifle
  • 1x LB 5-X AC
  • 1x SRM-2
  • 1x LRM-10
  • 1x ER Medium Laser
It's a mess.

Looks like it will get it's arms hooked on everything, and shoot past mechs in it's face.

Custom loadouts and Omnipod mixing...

Here are the potential hardpoint choices (includes the other 3 mechs):

I am extremely excited for this mech. I brawled all the time with it in MW4, and despite the brawl game in MWO being pretty weak, if they make the Ebon Jaguar remotely as short as it should be (Same height as the Nova) it will be a godlike 65tonner. This fact will be even more pronounced with the A and C variants. Want a shoulder-mounted Guass Rifle and strip the arm or armor for more tonnage? Yes you can, and you can have 2 or 3 ERPPC's on the other side-torso pod for that Gauss+ERPPC goodness, and -all- of those weapons are mounted -above- the cockpit, for your maximum hill-humping need. and the C Variant? 4 LRM 10's. Need I say more?

But for me? This thing is going to be a brawler destroyer if implemented well. Hell, the default A Variant is already amazing, perhaps with a few minor changes, such as switching the Flamer and MPL for more ERML's or have 2 ERML's and 2 MPL's. B Variant with the A's Left Torso will be a nasty laser vomit with 8 energy hardpoints.

In Tabletop, and lore, it's an Ambush Predator.

The legs basically being mounted to the shoulders, and the wide, flat design allowed it to hide reasonably well, sitting on its belly and able to stand straight up, and the ability to hit at a variety of ranges and targets.

The Gauss and LRM gave it range and supper ability, the SRM, LBX and ERML gave it closer hitting ability.

In TT you need to remember you had numerous targets (Mechs, Tanks, Aircraft, Infantry, Elementals, Emplacements) rather than just mechs.

Of course in MWO, you can strip it all, mount 2LBX10s (or an LBX20), and a bunch of lasers, and go nuts, but in TT most mechs had a variety of weaponry.

You'll only have about 4 tons of ammo. Not worth it.

I noticed. The 7 ± 2 issue also tends to go out the window in Table Top.
