Anything before August 7th gets wiped. August 7th and beyond, you keep what you kill (so to speak).

August 7th will be MWO's soft opening and then when it goes live for everyone it'll be the hard opening. Some will argue its not fair but that argument falls flat because new players will be joining up daily and they will all be starting out at the bottom like the rest of us. Just some of us purchased a leg up.

The advantage should be there, but not overwhelming. It sounds like (IMO) it will be an advantage of choice (more cbills already earned), pilot experience, and player experience. All roles are supposed to be valuable (not equivalent), so even if you have different mechs, they should be valuable if used right. At that point you are looking at not the mechs themselves (though choice / variety is nice), but at the other things accumulated. That means that you have founders packages and time. Those equate to (non-mech) in game money to buy things that are not supposed to effect ability to play, so we should be able to ignore that. And, then there are cbill / experience boosts. The XP booster is the only thing that will make a difference. That is compounded by the time. In effect, they are boosting the early start of the game to get a more diversified game when regular launch occurs. You will have established groups, members and experience. If they do the matchmaking right, there should be little effect on the new people joining the game at that point. If they don't do matchmaking right, then it will be painful until the new players are in the correct matchmaking brackets.

So, in conclusion TL; DR:
There only things that should come out (as I see it) of the early launch players, is greater variety of mechs, established groups, and players with fleshed out pilot exp trees. The only one that should effect players (previous disclaimer) is the pilot exp. Otherwise you just have players with more experience of playing the game.

New players join games everyday so there will always be someone who will be left behind in terms of playtime and experience. It's not that big a deal. There is a ceiling and they can catch up easily. All they need is one decent mech and a few games under their belt and if they are anywhere near competent then they will be coring Founders and Beta Testers in no time.

Founders getting in first will only be a horrible thing if we all act snotty and look down at the rest who aren't in yet instead of providing good feedback and insight on the game as well as giving them info, tips and maybe a few guides to get them up to speed.
