And PGI is canadian company. Who pay hes employees in Canadian dollars.

And I am forced to pay in USD.

That a nice way to say thx to your canadians customers "here pay 25% more"

I do hope all PGI employees are paid 25% more.

So you are forced to convert your currency to USD even though you are in Canada? That's some funny **** right there. I'd understand if PGI was a branch of a foreign company, but PGI is Canadian, lol.

so you paid until few days ago allways 25% less than non canadian customers? Did that also apply to the mech packages? If yes then you should rather be happy that you benefited from pgi´s generosity. Say at least thx for the last 2 years

It wasn't really an issue when the dollars were near par. But now that we're flirting with 80 cents US, we're basically paying 20% more than we were just a few months ago.

Ouch.

1.25 = 25% more + conversion flee

so 14.95 USD = ~19.28 CAD(paypal)

Not exactly. We were paying pretty much the same relative to US customers due to the CAD to USD exchange rate being near par. There was about a five-ten cent difference between the CAD and USD just this past summer.

Essentially, a $20 USD package would come out to $21 CAD plus the exchange surcharge.

But now there's a 20% difference between our currencies. And since goodies are sold in USD, our cost of packages have essentially increased by 20%.

@IG 88. My bad, I googled the rate and saw 80 cents.

Just switch to common currency between the US and Canada.

Call it the Dollar (because everyone does anyway)

Problem solved, economies linked, Canada bailed out of recession, elect leader against austerity measure, open revolt between lender and borrower, WWIII, sad faces, Mexico rules the world?

Still enuff. Last year you safed alot (5% - 25%). Pretty comprehensible that pgi changed it to what it is now.

The oil price fall has caused that currency fall appearently

http://www.finanzen....her_dollar-kurs

Anyways pgi profited alot and still profits from the currency difference between Can$ and Us$ due to they pay their staff in can$

This is actually very common practice in the business world, though in practice, they should be charging Canadian dollars to Canadian clients. That being said, the most common currency in the world is the US dollar, it is as close as we can get right now to a universal credit, as every currency is balanced against it, either up or down.

Now if PGI were to change to a floating charge, being country dependant on the location of the customer, that would require having several different accounts (USD/CAD/GBP/AUSD/YEN/EURO...ect), and then they would be charged each time they were to make an exchange from anything other than Canadian, to Canadian dollars, and sometimes that can add up to a lot of money, (my company is lucky, we get charged only a couple of % per dollar changed from USD to Canadian) so in many ways, it makes sense for them to use just the USD to make buying their products easier on both PGI as well as their clients, as it simplifies things a great deal.

What it also does, is it doesn’t force PGI to constantly adjust their prices with currency fluxuation.

Also, it’s just another tax for being Canadian…. <_<

Why would they want to bear the burden of your conversions where in reality they probably have a major US bank?

Wait till you play from Europe and have to pay USD for most MMO's/FPS/games OR get shafted with outrageous conversion amounts. Sony have done it that way and you end up massively overpaying.

uh, no sir. Having a our dollar on par with USD doesn't "save" us anything. But with our dollar spiralling down into the bog right now, I'm getting screwed trying to buy product from a company that is 2 hours away from my house

We were paying the same as everyone, and now we have to pay more. Which is normal with currency fluctuations when you're dealing internationally, but it just seems ludicrous to me that a Canadian company is charging in USD, and it's their local customer base that gets served the shafteroni and cheese

Plus if it was in CAD, it would in fact be Americans and everyone else benefitting from the low CAD $.

Well, I blame our GWB wannabe prime minister. Cause he's a ****.

Historically, 1 CAD has always been worth less than 1 USD. It wasn't until 2007 where the CAD actually broke the 1:1 territory.

Link

It's probably going to be that way for the foreseeable future.
