With MASC incoming even as just a placeholder, there are some IS variants of existing mechs that fall within the timeline that have MASC. So the question is whether or not we will get them.

Especially the CTF-3L which has been in the game files since the introduction of the Cataphract and with its customization pass coming it makes me wonder whether we will get it, even though it is just a CTF-1X, hardpoint wise, with MASC capability.

The other two are Wolverines which have the same production date as the 7K, and those are the 7D and 7M which aren't too special outside of MASC but still, more Wolverine couldn't be a bad thing.

EDIT: The purpose of this discussion isn't the Flea, and mere mention of it causes discussions to shift it seems.

Good point, however remember that cryengine doesn't play nice with speeds over 151kh, so no masc on lights.

@Accused
Really? Because a locust and commando with speed tweak easily go up around 170 (bit less with locust, bit more with commando) and they seem to work plenty well.

Actually, the problem comes with speeds higher than 170 kph.
This is what Russ said.

Forget the actual number, but yeah. You get warping all over the place, cryengine and netcode.

[edit] I remember when my hunchback used to be able to keep up with jenners and shoot them in the back with 12 small lasers. Or was it 11?

The Speed Limit of the game is 180 kph. any mech running faster than that starts breaking stuff.

IS will have MASC much later than the Clans because of their engine customization. Sure stock they don't break the speed limit, but when you can ram a huge engine in and go faster you risk breaking the game.

MASC system is not even created yet. Russ even said in the town hall that if they can't get a decent MASC system working they'll just drop MASC from the mechs, either permanently or until they get the system working.

I personally would prefer MASC to just be left out. It work in tabletop but I can imagine all the QQ threads when the idiots keep popping their legs while having MASC jammed on the whole time, just like how they pop themselves riding the Override constantly now.

They already have the code they could reuse.

The 40kph legged function and random damage from heat(legs only). The only question is whether to put it on a cooldown timer.
