PGI is this a bug or a feature ??

This can happen in assault and CW now...
LRM boats park near base.

Turrets that now ignore ECM becomes LRM boats perfect Indirect fire buddy.

I guess I gotta switch off Assault as a work around.
This is a bit broken.

Broken? Sounds like good design to me.

The turrets are not cancelling ECM nearby, they are completely ignoring it for the purposes of targeting. This gives LRM mechs stupid, 100% safe range, especially on small maps.

ECM no longer affecting turrets was an intended change. Sounds like you want to be able to run around in the middle of an enemy base without having to worry about the turrets at all, which is ridiculous. It's a base. It's supposed to be difficult to breach.

Nah, I just never, ever play assault, specifically because of its braindead mechanics.

It was the other way around. Turrets were ignoring ECM at beginning and they patched it to make the bubble working. Laser turrets were working against ECM, LRM not.
Is it different now?

I think you're wrong. Not being argumentative. I'll start checking patch notes in a minute.

Here you go:

So, yeah, ECM used to make you invisible to enemy turrets. Which was always dumb. Now it doesn't - which makes sense.

Played in caustic assault much ?
Those damn LRM turrets engage you from when you in the middle of the damn map.
No idea what exactly changed.. Is it just the anti-ecm change or did they also boost the turret detection range.
Best thing is that it completely ignores ECM... Yes.. We used to be able use friendly ECM brawl and engage the enemy but now what happens in Caustic where most of the battle happens in the middle ?
North team gets the advantage with south team Constantly getting 'Incoming Missile' on their screen.
Really bad if your already badly hurt and unarmour and those few missiles actually hit you.

Think I am the only one getting peeved by this ?

They should limit turrets to the their use which is base defence.
Other options is:
1. Base generators in assault for us to disable to damn things at range.
2. Permanently display the turrets that are locking on us so, we can shoot them down.

Anyway.. As mentioned before we have a workaround.
Disabling Assault... Depending on the map LRMs will give an unfair advantage to one team.
If this was PGI's intent.. It is ridiculous.

Feature. They've always given me locks for Lrms and they don't last long unless there is only one mech.

But people whined that basecaps were happening too frequently with ECM mechs, so they made turrets immune to ECM.

Go go magic crutches.

A matter of time before more and more LRM boat realise they can base camp and get magic locks.
Eg. Frozen City....

I was like wtf... Grrrr.. How the hell is that LRM boat getting an indirect lock on me.. No UAV, no spotter...
Has to be the damn base turret but you don't even see the damn thing on Radar.

I mean... They want to do this fine... At least us a better chance to retaliate.

If the turrets didn't provide locks they would be useless. A single medium mech could safely wipe out entire base.
I'm happy that assault mode is a tiny bit different than skirmish, because you cannot safely play nascar around the caldera.

Now if only we made conquest mode unwinnable by killing all the enemy mechs.

At the very least make caps not pay out unless a mech is occupying it.

We need something fundamentally different

The only wrong thing about this - turrets get targets while they are closed, so they cannot be killed properly. Let them get locks when they are opened only - problem solved

Hmmm... Do they really do that ?
Having some sort of indicator showing you which turret is locking on would help as well.

Anyway... Some pretty derp stuff being said above.. Considering the posts by the other OPs clearly states the map balance issue.
I guess sportsmanship is out of the window for you guys when it comes to LRM defending.
If I ever accidentally drop in assault again and find you base camping in this manner.
I will personally suicide rush and kill, if I have to.

I would sit in my own base and read a book.

i do not think turrets should share enough targeting information for LRMS to be launch from a mech, they should mark enemies and that is all, they do not have C3 or any other targeting equipment, nor is there any sensor towers or what have you, so it is my opinion that turrets should not share target data.

no paper doll.

no Mech designation.

no Mech loadouts.

no external LRM/SSRM lock.

All the kerfuffle over the weakest 'no skill' weapon of the game getting a perk that's been around since turrets began. Oh yes... they were doing it all the way back then.

Sportsmanship  It's the BASE. It's not supposed to be EASY to attack. It IS supposed to be easy to PROTECT. Play better, LRMs are seriously the easiest weapon in the game to protect yourself against. And don't give me that nonsense about it making Caustic Valley or River City or whatever "unplayable," I play those maps too, you know? Never have a problem with LRMs. Get out of your easymode mentality and deal with it

.

They don't have targeting equipment? Then what the hell are they using to decide they need to shoot you? Dice rolls? Seriously. OF COURSE they have targeting equipment, they are WEAPONS. That being said, it would be fine if they worked like a UAV - shows you the 'mech, lets you target them, doesn't give loadout or armor status info. Taking away target sharing from turrets is just dumb and caters to the mentality of "I don't want to have to face a challenge when I play, I just want to be the WINRAR"
