I really don't understand why I can't have more than one pilot / account per e-mail adress..

I understand billing and other stuff might get more complicated for them, but I don't think it would be that much worse.. so what, just ask me to which pilot I wish to apply my MC?

But do let me have two pilots, and let me switch stuff around in between accounts or gift stuff to other players.. Like hey, I have this Centurion I dont play, here, have fun girlfriend...

Not to mention, that if we could gift stuff to players, we could organise Zellbrigen matches and throw down the "pink slip" to a mech..

Wouldn't that be awesome?

I think if they was to do something like this they need to have a third option which would be Merc only.

as to the other games they mentioned I think is down right foolish to use them as an example.
Battletech & Mech warrior are so much more than just those garbage games that don't do justice to their lore(at least in st case).

but as I said on other pages, all factions can get access to all mechs in some form or another, hell even Herb at one point stated(a long time ago) that any faction can have access to all tech it would just cost more or be even harder to get.

now let's also look at canon factions. Diamond Sharks(their other name is stupid and cannot believe they would change their name) are well known for selling clan tech be it mechs or weapon systems to those in the Inner Sphere willing to pay for it.

So that there throws out anyone trying to keep players from using all tech under one pilot tab.

also by all rights, Clan players should be able to use IS mechs like the Commando, Locust, Jenners and others as they had a ton of them mothballed which they pulled out later on to help fill out their ranks.

or am I forgetting something as it has been a while.

only way for this to work for players with two pilots is like this:

Pilot 1 would have access to the mechs bought for that tab regardless of tech type
for example Pilot would have
1 Thunderbolt
1 Adder

while tab 2 would have for example:
1 Atlas
1 Shadow Hawk

for these two examples
Tab 1 would not have access to Tab 2's mechs and vice versa.

that is the only way I see it working.

IMHO this would be combined with a reworking of the skill system. So you would have a pilot skill tree (with choices) and a mech skill tree with choices.

So a pilot would be like picking a class in an RPG.

You could also then have flavour things like clan warrior, merc etc.

All pilots would have access to all mechs.

that's the thing though Greyhat, players can train their pilots in more than one way, such as in any class, and in any weapon system.

Good example is a friend of mine who piloted only a Commando who was skilled with LRMs, SRMs, Medium, Large Lasers, and highly trained with Light mechs.

He could have cross trained with other mechs if he really wanted to, but stuck with his 3025 era Commando(with basic upgrades) until his retirement in 3068.

The Point I am trying to make is that it just wouldn't work if going by lore as all pilots can train on different mechs. in ghost of winter they had their mech warriors in training cross training in all weight classes & weapon types(at least that's what I took from it).

*Spoilers for those whom hadn't read ghost of winter, you have been warned*
Such as the Main character was training with a Centurion using a simulator while he was actually piloting the Thorn outside of the simulator before he lost it from a surprise attack by the Pirate one eye Ryan who was using four mech, a mad cat, Ullar, ice ferret, and a Puma, and later on he found a Clan depot that house a star of mechs which he trained on them all so he could use them.

and that is a canon source.
