Why does the Orion 1M have Lbx - 10 Quirks and the Orion 1V AC/10 Quirks?

Shouldn't these two quirks be switched around to make the 1M a more tempting mech to buy and a Mech to take into Community Warfare and Regular matches?

Most of the new quirks for the Orion are crap. Before the changes the VA was a nice brawler with SRMs and AC20. Now there is no real reason to invest 75t in CW.

That is what they come with stock.

How high was the AC20 cooldown quirk before the most recent quirk pass?

It's a 12.5% general CD quirk now which is pretty decent and it gets the same buff for velocity. On top of that theres a 25% CD and range for all missile weapons.

Seems pretty sweet to me without having to lock it into AC20/SRM6 combo.

For a generalist/trooper mech I think these quirks will be way better than the ones from the previous pass.

40% LBX cooldown and 25% Missile Cooldown. The M is a huge shotgun. That's pretty unique I'd say.

The Orion is a fantastic looking mech that simply falls short. It would need to be over quirked to be effective and the LBX10 quirk simply doesnt help any variant.

Giant shotgun you say? And it moves at 83 KPH once tweaked.

Well, If the Orion 1V had LBX-10 Quirks, wouldn't that make it a really good brawler, even better than the Centurion and possibly the Stormcrow(?)

The general ballistic quirk improved the UAC5. Take one of those and either a much bigger engine or a slightly bigger engine with Artemis.

So stupid to quirk mechs according to their worthless stock load outs.

Its a little trickier to use on this sort of build because you will be getting up close and personal with your target but it definitely can work. The extra ST structure probably helps too but I haven't tried it since then.

Clans will eat you alive at range. The LBX is simply not a good primary weapon in MWO.

It's not something I'd put to use in CW but I've barely touched CW recently. In PUG games my experience prior to the last quirk pass was admittedly hit and miss but I had some fun games. You do have to wait out the beginning of the match before doing anything noteworthy.

So no, I'm not proposing everybody go out and buy this because it's not competitive but if you got a bunch of c-bills lying around and you wanna have some fun this is one option.

Due to the size and poor design of the Orion, Im wondering if its bettter to ignore the ballistics as the primary weapon. I'd focus on the missile and energy hard points since you do not have to expose too much of the fragile Orion to fire those.

I know I hated my Orion. With those tiny arms, those ST's get destroyed.

It feels more fragile than it ought to be at 75 tons.

I have had a chance to try the new Protector quirks.

I have had mixed success with it but it is the most difficult mech to use I have. It not as bad as the awsome as a target I would guess but its in that realm. :) All the big stand up mechs may need to be looked at for resizing and or armor quirks or something.

Autoshotty 1M is pretty damn scary when paired with SRMs at knife fight range.

AC10 plays very nice on the K and VA thanks to the generic velocity quirks.

IMO, the Orion quirks are better now than on the previous pass. The first set was even worse. UAC5 quirks for a mech with one ballistic hardpoint, LRM 5 quirks on a mech with a 20, 15, 15 launcher setup, no durability buffs worth a damn...

The AC10 quirks should have been put on the K though. The V would have been fine with 15% generic cooldown, range, and velocity buffs.
