The Daishi, because of its potential massed alpha.
The Stalker and Atlas, because... "Ah ****. That's going to take some time to wear through its thick skin."

Same kind of deal with a Direwolf, but thats more of the yawn & roll eyes reflex than one of terror, because its doing the happy dance all the way there and then you're suddenly blinded by muzzle flashes and can't see anything.

Like what I wish for when I see my C4 splatcat in one of my mechbays.

It's still golden on CW maps as an ambush defender or heavy push screen, since it's a lot harder to pick off in the hands of a pilot who knows how to shield themselves.

I think everyone is intimidated by a 100 ton mech at least to some degree. But in the case of the Atlas youre mostly relieved its not a Daishi or King Crab instead.
The reality is the Atlas is never going to be the equal of the other 100 tonners in firepower. So instead PGI should significantly buff the Atlas' center and side torso armor to make it a better tank. What it lacks in firepower and hardpoint locations it should make up for in being completely obnoxious to kill.
I seriously dont understand why PGI gave the Atlas more arm structure; that was the LAST thing it needed since its arms are already extremely beefy. What it needed was more center and side torso structure. Instead of +9 to each arm and +11 to each side torso it shouldve gotten +12 to each side torso and +16 to its center torso.

The only assault mechs that intimidate me are the Direwolf and King Crab. I know they can hurt me really bad if I'm in their line of sight and I usually know I can't drop them fast enough by myself.
I feel sorry for the Atlas, mostly because I have that loyalty one and I wish it was better.

I also sold all my Atlases and bought Highlanders instead.
I wish PGI had done something about the Atlas and given it the extra structure and armor quirks it needs.

A properly kitted out Atlas is something to be respected, and not something you engage lightly if the pilot is even vaguely competent.

To be honest, whenever I see an Atlas now, I gleefully wring my hands and cackle while thinking of the borderline free damage and kill that will result from me tangling with it.
The Atlas was indeed once a sight to instill fear, but on the modern MWO battlefield, it's a relic. It's too large, and it's best loadouts are ludicrously short range - and even with a full short range build, StormCrows, King Crabs and MadCats do short range combat better.
IMHO of course.
