So what builds are you guys running this weekend on your X-5? I am thinking I might experiment with some srm heavy builds, or maybe just copycat the 2erll, 2ml loadout from my 3m.

I run mine damn near stock, with one ton of SRM ammo swapped out for an extra DHS, torso armor maxed and slightly more frontloaded, and the remaining ton of ammo relocated to the head. Admittedly not the most creative thing ever, but I've had consistently good results with it and have no desire whatsoever to change a successful formula.

Yeah, that is pretty much how I run mine. I always feel like there ought to be a way to squeeze a little more punch out of the srms though. I guess maybe downgrading to an xl 300 with dual srm 4 might be an option.

I have been theorizing along those lines, but I seem to have more success with faster...still could be worth a shot, I have a lot more experience with normal mediums now than I did last time I try to slow a cicada down.

If you have more success with faster stuff, then by all means run that stuff! My playstyle is mainly heavies, and moderately fast mediums, so anything above 100kph for me works fine.

How well do you like artemis with the X-5. I've found that with the volley fire my shots are pretty accurate without using it.

My usual build is either stock weapons and max engine or XL300, 2xSRM6, 4xML (I forget how much ammo).

Both builds have served me well.

I am usually jumping out of a locust or a commando when I take the cicadas for a spin so less than 170 feels slow. However, Now that I have elited my X-5 The difference between the 300 with no speed tweak and the 280 with speed tweak is probably insignificant. Sorry, just thinking out loud.

I'll roll TDK, and the X-5.

X-5 stock is good, or another build that I use, is made replacing the double srm2 with 2srm4, downgrading the engine to xl300 (133kph).

Rolled mine with 1LL 3MLs XL330 for ages, but think I might change things up this weekend. XL320 4 MLs, 2 SSRM2 and BAP. Is BAP actually good for punching through ECM?

I've only played a few matches with it, and this was a while ago, but Artemis on SRM6 and LRM15 & 20 is just what I always do by default, I'll try it without, like you're saying because TBH, I can't even remember what it was like without it.

This is how I am going to run my X5. I have debated putting an XL320 in for an extra DHS, or going with and XL340 for max speed. So I went in between just to see how it will work. When I first got it I used regular SRMs so I could get LLs on it. But I am interested in seeing how the speed and the streaks will work against lights and if it is a better support mech this way.

With all the ECM I could be crazy though.

340 is max on the X5.

Personally, I do the 2 ERLL, 2 ML build. 320XL Engine. And enjoy those high beam mounts for hill humping. May find myself playing around a bit, but I hate SRMs so I doubt it'll be much of a change.

Yeah, the ECM is definitely going to make it hard to use Streaks in the sort of situations the X5 is good at. And your Alpha is just as high with the ERLLs as with streaks. Not quite as pin point, but can’t win ‘em all.

Another one I’ll probably play with is 2 LPLs and 2 SLs, doesn’t take advantage of the mega nice ML quirks, but 20 percent range boost is still pretty awesome on LPLs alone. (Needs a 300XL engine though)

EDIT: Or you could go down to an XL 285 and get the MLs too... 127 kph is still respectable.

EDIT 2: Module Choices are going to be interesting too. On any of those three builds. The only surefire is using LPL ones on the LPL/SL build. The other two are a bit tougher on whether to use ML or ERLL/LPL ones.

EDIT 3: Possibly this too. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...2f37a0399290480 - or swap the NARC for 4 more HS and never overheat!

…well, there went my hopes of making top 50 on the leaderboard. DARN. I’ve only approached that once, back with the still overquirked Wubverine in the last match I got to play in it the night before it got rebalanced.

Might have to try that one out too, even not liking asymmetrical builds if possible.

EDIT: But why the Beagle? I'd drop that and 1 HS to use a 320 any day for the extra speed. Or even two HS and go the 330!

BAP for support...kinda like the inverse of the Cicada M i guess.

But i do it for the Cbills cuz im greedy.

XL300 is fast enough, 2 engine DHS, and i have other builds i play with. I put the 320 on the Cicada A.

I have the 2A and have a blast in it. Would the X5 be a good choice for one of the other 2 for mastering the chassis?

Running the 2 srm2's with the 25% cooldown quirk looks like a missile spamming good time.

If so I may pick it up while it's on sale.
