To Counter The Light Rush....

If they intend to get a light rush it's more aggro than it's worth to stop them so let them win.
Walk out of the base to a good open spot and if they come back without destroying alpha kill them then and then wipe out their follow up drops
It has taken me an awefully long time to realise I don't have to play by their rules

Or you could bring streak crows/dogs.

None of them successful. (Turns out, SPL Novas and Streak Lights...and decent aim tends to turn the light rush into a 12-0 lead on waves.)

Have you heard of "Stormcrow" and "C-SSRM6"?

IS vs IS defense is a bit harder but I like AC20s vs lights with pulse and Gauss coming as seconds.

That is just a defeatist attitude to have.
A better one would be to use the opportunity to improve one's gunnery skills.

I am runing a Streak crow at the moment but I do have a question regarding positioning against the rush,
Do you face the front of it, and catch all of their fire as they rush past you and usually die quickly
Do you Hit the middle, lose some generators, take a lot of damage, kill some
Do you wait for the tail and then try to catch up
As some advise I would suggest that when the light rush gets to omega, don't crowd the platform trying to get kills on the wee fulla's. Friendly fire does far more damage than they do.

Are you running BAP? I know it wont take out multiple ecm but bap and a tag may help you.

Early CW advice from players in our Clan recommended BAP as a basic requirement to prevent sneakies and help with targetting.
These are PUG drops, my Clan is reorganising and as yet timezone differences mean I'd have to bend my commitments to sort out groups, can be done though, just not sure I want to change my Real Life to accomodate a game.

A streak boat should equip Artemis (I know it should have no effect but they did not program in separate locking mechanisms for Streaks and LRMs so it WILL reduce lock times on the 'mech when equipped, period. THis helps when the 150kph+ lights get close and try to break your LoS) and the CAP and carry a UAV.
