It seems like in the videos, all a mech does is fall over and disappear. My ideal death would for it to fall over and be able to act as cover for lighter mechs if it is a assault. I hated how mechwarrior 4 made all the mechs explode but this is the other extreme. I also wonder how often a mech will explode from fusion failure since it was not very often in canon. No disrespect, just noticing somebody, now i wait for the banhammer ;) .

On a sidenote, anyone wonder where the tonnage of the Centurion went in the screenshot?

Maybe, just maybe consider something: at this point MWO is in the early-mid phase of the closed beta. Some parts of the game are missing.

This. This a lot, The Dev's have stated Mech death is something they are actively working on. We all want explosions and fine and brimstone! It will happen (Also, i believe Mech's stay on the battlefield after they die, that was an early bug that has since been fixed.)

Still to early to judge based on video, and other things mid beta still a lot of work to do.

This probably wont happen unless you are very close, Fusion reactors don't Explode very much, they burn themselves up. So lots of flash, little damage.

I personally see no issue with how they die right now. I mean Engine Breaches are very rare in the TT game. Add to that crits on ammo can cause an explosion, but is also difficult to gauge. There is not to much else that REALLY explodes on a mech. Even now the death of the mechs in the video look like they have been massaged to fit when they may not.

Plus, if the mechs are always exploding down to their toes...how would they ever be salvaged? Even if there is no salvage in MWO...salvage is still canon.

Game creation still in progress.
Patience. Lets all wait till the game gets released.
We are all sitting on the edge of our chair, and cant wait.

A mech getting knocked out should be noticeable but not overly flashy. In the end, it should just kind of stop where its at, maybe slouched over on its feet.

Now, ammo explosions, those should be spectacular.

Well i hope the Mechs do explode on the one or other occasion (after alot of torso hits maybe) and also that they do some damage if you happen to be to close. Also hope that the wreakage will remain and not disapear.

It really is "hurry up and wait". Everyone is excited to get in and play. Founder or not I think everyone is looking forward to August 7 to see what will happen.

Yeah really - people are saying its still WAY too early. How is a month from early access WAY too early?

30 days till the bulk of the userbase is playing the game? I would call August 7th Open beta. Meaning the game is done for the most part. Normally open beta in any title lasts about a month. That means Early - Mid September will be the release.

People are acting like this won't launch before 2013.

Well, if the engine dies and can't power the gyroscopes, then I would expect every mech to fall over. The gyros and neurohelmets are all that's keeping the mech from falling over at any given moment anyways.

I think mech explosions would be nice up to the point that it's YOUR mech doing the mushroom cloud salute and then you realize what the repairs are going to cost you after the match...You will know its really bad when your lancemates form a slush fund to help you with the repair bills!!
