Only 2v2 left in river city and my teammate was on the other side of the map and I was tangling with the last two myself. I killed one then the last man was in a meduim doing a turning fight with my assault. My teammate is telling me to run so he can get the kill. I did the pick the wings off a fly as long as I could then tried to bail, Dropped an arty on myself and screwed. Wouldn't you know the enemy followed and died. In Chat you would have though I had just killed babies. Oh, well.

There was a last enemy, with no arms and weapons and only one leg and noone wanted to kill it.
After some minutes, we (six of them) realised that we all have allready a kill and someone gave mercy to him.

fatiguing to hear over and over. YOU STOLE MY KILL.
Some would even go as far as to THREATEN a team mate for STEALING their Kill.
BUT YOU DIDNT GET THE KILL. SO IT IS NOT YOURS.

Does that mean anything to you?
I don't care about tournament and ratios. It is NOT YOUR KILL IF YOU DIDN'T GET IT.
SUCK IT UP. GET THE KILL!
Use your Lock and aim for weak points.
NO I don't have a 50 kill ... tournie reward as a polite player(from the dead pointed out). But I could if but for RL.
GET YOUR KILLS AND STOP threatening team mates.
Work as a team, move shoot kill. Move and shoot and kill.
I know that most of you will NOT be the threatening ones if you are here reading this.
I just had to vent.
Thanks
Totally agree, and I had a guy the other day who alpha'd me in the face because I 'stole' his kill. He was alone fighting in enemy territory and I went out of my way to help him, then his opponent started alpha'ing me in the face so I turned up the heat and ended up with the kill.

And that is exactly how every 'kill steal' happens in every game ever.
Aside from: it's a game.

1 - If you're coming to the Solo Queue for an event that requires kills and you're not used to solo play, you're going to be miserable. You have one Elo score for each weight class......they're not separated into "Group/Solo" queues. That means if you're a group player and do well, odds are good your Elo will be higher than that of people that play in the Solo Queue exclusively. Expect to have to carry new players every single match you play.
2 - If you're flinging LRMs or trying to snipe, nobody "stole" your kill. You were providing support to the team...you were NOT part of the assault group. If someone closer to the target finishes him off before you got the kill, suck it up....you had the opportunity to build a more effective mech than one that gets the occasional random kill.

One the one hand, we've got new players that can't unzoom without looking at their hands bumbling into the deathball, people in trial LRM boats that wonder why they can't shoot at stuff covered by ECM and people that just wander off on their own to "explore the map." We won't even bring up those people that feel the need to "test fire" into their teammate's backs just to see what'll happen.
On the other hand, we've got organized Group players coming over with their inflated Elo scores complaining that noone in the Solo Queue will listen to their expertise or blaming everyone for not being able to "follow their lead." What's even worse is that the Elos aren't divided into solo/group queues so, if you're good in the group queue....you're going to end up having to carry a high number of new players.
It's a vicious cycle. I wonder if PGI actually thought this stuff through.

Those whiny little "KILLSTEAL" chanting legions can't force me into their narrative. If I can gut an enemy mech, i'm going to do it. If they really want kills, then they just need to forage for themselves.
Well said!

That's what it feels like to me....I think its a good thing. I'd rather trust my team than have them firing wildly at random targets or trying to blow up the Hilton Garden Inn on River City.

You secured it by skulking behind a rock and popping out for a killing blow because 'Solo' Queue is a Personal Player Dispenser.
Those other 11 guys are just bots, with automatic chat inputs, like that internet chatbot thing.
On a more serious note, they really need to fix how Kills are awarded.

I agree if you want to win work as a team, however this event is making people act in a more selfish manner. For instance a majority of the people complaining I believe are in pugs where no one in their lance fires a shot at an enemy until someone else cores them then they come in put 2 shots in and get their very cheap kill (I've seen this over 10 times since the event started) just doing the most damage is not giving you **** even though it should. Your all right if you have a clan, but the pug runs this weekend don't expect that "it's all for the team" attitude.

EDIT: As an aside, I guess this was balanced by a match I just had. Dropped on Viridian, in the wrong Mech... a slow un-moduled AC20 CTF-3D... was thrown off and out of position all match which we won pretty handily... couldn't get into the fights in time, but I managed to get one airborne snap shot with my AC20 and took out a heavily damaged Banshee. Don't think anyone else was actually firing at him at the time...so that's good. I finished the match with a pathetic 42 damage... but got my kill and assist.

The uproar would be amazing.
Or as an alternative method that wouldn't destroy match quality even more, just give people credit for "kill most damage dealt" even if they don't land the killing blow.
Bam, now people won't cry about stolen kills nearly as much.

Steal / take 8 kills with less then 100 damage.
That's when I have a problem with people during events like these....
Man if I ever saw a match where some guy pulled 8 kills with less then 100 damage I would be completely impressed and would try to become their groupie.

So its not like someone stealing a kill completely robs you of all the effort you put out.
