All Clan mechs with the exception of Lights are fast compared to the IS. That's because all Clan mechs use XL engines that don't pop on a ST loss. These mechs are effectively getting engines at 2/3 the weight of the IS counterparts, so yea, they're faster. Once Wave III arrives, even the Light exception will no longer be true as the Arctic Cheetah will be running 142 kph, which is comparable to what IS Lights run.

Oh... ahem... Im in a Dragon... I know... I know....

1. Get a Dragon 1N
2. Put 2 AC/5s, lotsa ammo and some light secondary armament onto it.
3. Profit.

Seriously, the damage you can deal with a twin AC/5 Dragon is nothign short of obscene.

You haven't run an atlas yet. That thing feels like an old man with a walking stick.

Try a Stalker...on Alpine...pack a lunch...bring a book (War & Peace comes to mind  ).

Its kind of what I figured. I have to relearn the maps too, like that little viridian swamp stump is not problem in my jump jet light, but its a obstacle in my heavy brick house... nnooooo I stump! I cant move! The torso twist and arm movement takes more time. Torso twisting in a lighter mech keeps up with arm movement pretty well... while in the heavies your arms are way the hell out of place while you are still twisting...

I just wanted to confirm if this was a thing with everyone or if I am especially ********... Thanks all.

Try Quickdraws. The JJ, solve that little problem.

or you can go this path:
1. Get a King Crab (000 best option)
2. Put in 4 AC/5's, lotsa ammo and a medium laser and an AMS.
3. Profit.

OR
1. Get a King Crab (000 best option again)
2. Put in 2 AC/20's, lotsa ammo, medium laser and an AMS
3. Profit.

King Crabs put out just blindingly crazy amounts of damage.

As others have stated, once you start unlocking it will help a lot. Another thing to remember is your overall size, and a dragon has a big nose that draws fire. Heavy and especially Assault mechs are much more vulnerable to bad positioning. They are much less forgiving.

I've found my light and medium play has gotten better now that I run awesomes and stalkers. You pay a lot more attention before running somewhere, note the firing lines you will open yourself too, where available cover is and where the heck you will run to if you round a corner into enemy fire. Remember it is faster to just run across an open ally etc than it is to come to a stop and back up, unless you were already planning to peak and back up. You're taller and broader in heavier mechs, so you won't be able to hide where you once were in smaller mechs.

Thunderbolts are excellent chassis over all these days, with multiple solid builds, many of which are easy to mount large engines in which can help you feel more comfortable.
