It's either gonna be really good, or really bad.

Profile / hit box / exposure will have a say on that.

Sorry for the snark, but this whole thread screams of...
"Everyone who didn't play MW4, raise your hands ^^^^^"

EDIT: PS, a 3 ERLL Scat was NEVER a bad thing...

It's basically a bigger Kitfox. I love the Kitfox to death, so I can see the SCat being a fun mech. I'm eager to hear more details on the MASC implementation.

The problem with that build is ghost heat. It would be fairly extreme to control for a 45 tonner. I suppose if you got really good at spacing them 2+1, you could pull it off however. Or do the "Death Ray" and chainfire all 3 of them.

Ghost heat does suck, but 2 weapon groups and fire discipline solves it pretty easily.

Yeah, I had to do that with my Shadowhawk 2K with 3xERLL, (Before they removed ghost heat from the 3rd IS lasers) but those run considerably cooler, and you can pack more DHS into a 55 tonner.

I'm also looking forward to running this thing as a hybrid LRM/Laserboat, or a hard hitting SRM/MPL skirmisher. The more I look at this mech's hardpoints, the more that I like.

You can do it on an Adder, so it should work just fine on the Shadow Cat.

shadow cat would be a fine mech if the meta wasnt "stuff as many lasers as you can in".....some mechs dont rely on 14 medium Pulse lasers.....in fact, many dont, kinda why so many mechs are considered bad...

You can replace 'ShadowCat' with a great majority of 'mechs in the game and this statement would still be true.

We need to get away from huge alphas and into smaller constant shots.
Then 'mechs with fewer hardpoints aren't shafted by the inability to drop 50+ damage alphas and scuttle back into cover.

I think 2cerLlas + NARC + TAG + ecm might be a good support build, with both ERLL on the right side and NARC+TAG on the left arm.

Builds im thinking about:

2xLPL + ECM + 4xDHS
3xERLL + ECM + 3xDHS
2xASRM6 + 3xERML + ECM + 2T Ammo + 5xDHS
3xSSRM6 + 2xERML + ECM + 3T Ammo + 1xDHS
2xERPPC + ECM + 4xDHS (Feeling hot hot hot)
1xERPPC + 2xASRM6 + ECM + 2T Ammo + 2xDHS

Might do Gauss + ECM + 4T ammo, but i think it will suck, not enough tonnage to run Gauss really.

Will use the Jesus box on 100% of builds, if i want to run an Arrrow, ill run an Arrow - IS blue wub is better anyway.

Indeed, I agree with you on that.

I see two ways to use the Cat. Use it like a fast Hunchie with JJ, slap something big on it (in this case the only option is Gauss) and boat that weapon like no tomorrow. Alternatively, it can be a sleeker lighter version of the Stormcrow. It'll probably be best used for getting into nice spots no one is looking at and putting mean pot shots into them.

I doubt it'll be super meta, but so long has the hit boxes are pkay, I don't see it not being serviceable.

I'm not so sure of the gauss/ac20 style build anymore, somehow 2 tons ammo doesn't seem enough. Plus, it's only 1 gauss...

Maybe if i take small lasers for an additional ton of ammo...i'm also considering ac/lbx 10...

A 10 rated AC you can do with a pair of ERMLs and ECM and 3 tons of ammo. With the ammo buff, even 2 might be enough, but 3 is a safe bet.

Likely inferior to pure lasers, but it should work.

Which doesn't need to expose as much as its wide body, and has better cooling.

14.5 with no JJs VS 16 with 6 JJs, higher weapon mounts.

It will be a better robot, but 15 tons better? Unlikely. Better CW robot than the Cute Fox because it does the range game better.

i hope they will buff cute fox a bit and replace 2 fixed structure points from kfx-s right torso to arms or something to let kfx get gauss into that torso... it would be amazing

because kfx-s right torso ballistic hardpoint is situated above the cockpit, unlike the arm hardpoint
consider this uac-10 build
