It was cool when they were more infrequent, like once a month, because nobody minds getting free stuff like that now and then. But these challenge/tournament weekends really bring out the worst in the player base making the game more or less unplayable because of the measures individuals will take to ensure they meet their quota for the challenge. They need to go back to being much more infrequent. Please, for the love of god, make it stop.

Agreed.

I tried to play today, and very quickly stopped. It's been challenge after challenge after challenge, and they aren't limited to the weekends.

I agree, and would like to add that they should use match score. Assigning points based on kill + assist + win makes for horrible gameplay. If it was based on match score, individuals would have to actually play smart and be an asset to their team.

I like the challenge weekends. It's something to look forward to. But the requirements really make players play horrible.

I wat that "pluck-your-back" guy in the RVN challenge. Piloted a RVN and mostly hunted unsuspecting assaults. Sorry xD

its pretty simple ... those challanges have in common that players need to grind points on individual player basis - and they have to grind so many points that it requires a certain amount of time. That is why people take it personal if other players do something which does not serve their grinding (the ironie is that most people don't see that the player they are cursing does have the same problem ...)

Also - when people see something for "free" (actually it isn't considing the time people need to invest) they get greedy - wether they need it or not - that is one of the major downsides of F2P (the other big one is P2W). Which is another reason why people start taking it personal.

Did I miss something - yes the Fun - cause there isn't any in that kind of challange.

What I don't get - how can anyone really think that a tournament which is designed to turn people into selfish grinder could do a game good which is based on teamplay?

I never thought I would see someone complain about the challenges. And about getting something for free.

and that is where you are wrong - it is NOT "for free" - you only think that and totaly ignore the time you need to invest. I'd rather pay instead! Just like I go to the movies and pay for my ticket instead of spending hours working to get in "for free".

While i do agree, that i like free stuff, and i agree, that it isn't really "free-free", while i agree that the conditions often make players behave very egoistic, and some big reward challenges also invite really good players i hardly can compete against, i agree that it is weird to complain about it.

There you go ;-)

In all seriousness, the challenges are mostly nice to have, but i tend to ignore the ones that provoke a lot of LURMageddon or Suicide-Bombers. Or i pick up my ECM-Counter-Lurm mechs and Long range Snipers to compensate (and still get a lot of grief). And when push comes to shove i just play another game for the weekend, or watch a nice TV-series and be done with the challenge and drop back in on Monday evening.

Still, i appreciate to have the option to invest time and get more than some GXP and C-Bills out of the game. My main point would be to make PGI overthink the winning conditions. Always liked "Win"-Only condition most, since players tend to organize and cooperate better if they don't have an personal goal. But this is also not without flaws due to Discos. And even if the Challenge then turns to "just invest enough time and auto-get the prize" (youre alls winnars!).

how about different playmodes? so that people who care about the challange and people who don't don't get mixed up

They should do a challenge based on match score.

you know what, im starting to think its the weekends that bring out the horrible players, and not the events. double exp shouldnt have everyone playing like idiots, but i sure as hell saw a lot of failness last weekend. i dont mind the events but can we make them have a much smaller impact on our time, they seem to eat up the whole weekend. i think a 3 day event should be completable in one day for your average player.

They've made the recent events require match points... It's something :D
