You all complain and they might stop putting them! Then we don't get free stuff!

Oh they will put more challenges. If they care about player retention at all.

With the sheer frequency of them (i.e. nearly every week) I'd almost call it a crutch in terms of player retention (as in, they have a hard time making people play when they aren't offering challenge events...).

It is only natural for game companies to try to keep people playing during weekends. I'd say weekend challenges/tourneys should be integral part of MWO to spice up the monotony.

Just do not make it so grindy. Players getting burned out is counterproductive.

Just a method to boost numbers for upcoming Steam stats.

The people complaining arnt getting the free stuff. Thats why theyre complaining.

Its understandable. 50 games is a bit excessive for people who only play the game casually. Theyre not going to grind out 6-7 hours of playing to get a free mech.

25-30 games is more reasonable expectation. Thats what PGI needs to aim for.

At my current rate of playing, there's not enough time to get 80 points. I don't want to know what an actual casual player is going through.

You missed the point. I'm saying that the normal game itself might not be retaining people very well.

So the solution to something that dosen't work just right is removing it?

Instead of, you know, trying to fix it and make it better?

I think the guys at PGI are smart enough to be able to understand such a simple thing.

Don't worry, they have created an infrastructure for events, they won't toss it out of the window.

They should make them much less grindy. Getting anything usefull beyond premium time is a serious grind, especially for the short time the challange goes.

For the record, this is the 3rd challenge in a back-to-back-to-back weekend series.

The probability of burning out increases as there is grind upon grind upon grind.

Would lol if they were testing just how far they could push their own community before they burned them out.

Still not sure I believe Russ when he said last weekend "topped" the charts for player numbers.

80 is way too many points.

Plus its way too close to the previous event. people are getting event exhaust.

That is essentially the reason my friends and I decided not to bother with this challenge. As a casual player - the best I can do is maybe 6 games a night, that's not even enough to get the 3 days premium unless I'm really lucky.

I have said this in game just recently...

"It's like saying Russ is not balding."

"It's like saying (the man who shall not be named) is competent."

Yea...

I have roughly calculated for myself that I get 10 points per every 3 hours (doing this primarily solo).

Getting 80 points amounts to committing 24 hours for this game. This is over a 72 hour span. 1/3 of my weekend would actually require me to play this game to get all the goodies.

Yea, it is insane. I made it to 28 and just can't keep the desire to want to keep going. Oh well, I tried?

I did notice on Russ' twitter this "Let's see how the event goes - if people spoil it we can stop giving away mechs and nice things."

So he has resulted to childish scolding to keep people from doing what he doesn't want lol!

Casual player just play... To play, nothing else. My Dad play another F2P. He just play the game and have fun in his way, and don't care at all about the events going on for example.

P.S: No, I am NOT stalking you.
