First: Good luck, have fun.
Second: When one is piloting a giant Mech, then they are already winning.
Third: A skilled opponent is more valuable than C-Bills.
Fourth: Rage must be confined to one's own failings.
Fifth: To purposefully slay one's own companions is unforgivable.
Sixth: Even the mightiest 1 cannot overcome 12.
Seventh: Every victory is built upon the stones of a dozen defeats.
Eighth: Good Game

These are the 8 Pillars that make the Tao of the MechWarrior.

The first, "Good luck, have fun" a simple statement heavy with meaning. A reminder that our war is a game. A salute to worthy opponents and teammates alike. It should set a tone of fair play and acknowledge that luck can favor either side.

The second pillar illuminates a simple truth: we are piloting avatars of destruction that cannot be found in the real world. This is a gift and an opportunity, one we almost didn't have.

The third pillar praises skill. Few are the places where skill determines the victor, not money. Remember this and revel in glory of a well fought battle.

The fourth calls for self discipline. Do not poison the world around with vitriol against others. Instead focus on yourself and turn your rage into a drive to improve.

The fifth is a condemnation of those who would turn their weapons against their own teammates. This robs the joy of victory from both teams. To make one's entertainment at the expense of 23 other people is selfish beyond measure.

The sixth reminds us to be humble. The best pilot in the strongest Mech is still no match for a team that works together. Death comes to he who thinks himself unbeatable.

The seventh pillar counsels us that no matter how many times you win, defeat is inevitable, and no matter how many times you lose, victory is inevitable as well. For you cannot have one without the other.

The final pillar is a final salute to both victor and vanquished. An acknowledgement of skill and a battle well fought by one or both sides. Being gracious in victory and defeat is the mark of a true MechWarrior and a final reminder that in the end, it is just a game.

Remember these 8 Pillars that form the Tao of the MechWarrior and you can find true enlightenment on the field of battle.
