ERPPC/2xSRM4 is the combo to take. And if that's to hot for you drop the PPC for a LPL.

Stay back and learn to shoot your lightning gun and if things get personal, never ever fire the PPC but only the SRMs.

First, you need the heat for the srms, second PPC hitreg is poor at small ranges.

I like piloting lights, mediums, heavies and a few assaults.

That said, I don't understand Panthers, at all. Only two locations where weapons can be contained, the arm or the CT. Take the arm off, and all that is left is a puny SRM. This mech is much worse than people are making it sound. You're better off running a firestarter with a XL255 and with more hardpoint choices than the panther. Or run a Jenner and get the exact same hardpoint numbers, only with more options. Or Ravens. All of the above have higher engine caps, more hard points, and potentially higher mounted weapons. Many even have better quirks than any one of the Panthers.

The Panther's place seems like it's supposed to be a jumpy PPC light. It doesn't do that well at all given current quirks. People are simply skipping the ER/PPCs and going to normal laser boating. It's a mech without an identity.

Hey, you're a Davion. Panthers aren't supposed to be understandable for you guys. The Coordinator Expects, and all that. :)

FS9 are what they are, and there will always be a special spot in my heart for COM.
But nowadays Panthers are my fav lights. 10K, too.

The panther 10K is a complete and utter pile of steaming dog ****. It is the worst mech I have ever had the misfortune of piloting.

Still miles better than the Adder :-)

I like them because they have an identity... not weapon base, but piloting identity.
Don't make that comparison you do in your post, about other lights ... it doesn't work in that way.
Let's put in this way: CDA is a false medium, and PNT is a false light :)
Try to use them as piloting medium, a very fast one.
No scout here, so no jenner, no raven, no fs9,etc.
The fact that they have one armed arm, is very similar to many medium mechs, and I pilot them in the same way.
Protect that right arm, and the left can be used as shield.
Moreover PNT have very good hitboxes, my fav after the fs9 ones.
Quirks sadly are meh... that why I gave by myself a weaponry identity to PNT.
Essentially srm4 and mpl. Even LPL.

Even more: now that I mastered them, I find possible to lower speed even more, a little bit, to have more punch.

A false light with that alpha can be vey nasty.

But really, don't pilot it as it were a light.

Let's talk about Adder quirks. 0.8 points of additional leg structure and how it can be used to defeat the Panther.

I'm shocked at how much fun I've had playing my 10k, and even more at the positive K:D and W:L I've gotten with it solo pug queue during an event weekend. It's a suck-theorycrafting but decent-in-practice mech.

Yep its this, disappointing on paper but surprising in its application.

Maybe the badder, with its strong legs, could try to kick ... but only when physical attacks and melee weapons will be available :)

And hope the Panther doesn't kick back with it's +6 legs, or punch with +12 arm.

I can do the 2 ERPPC and a JJ ok on the 10k, its not the best, but there are a few worse mechs out there. I don't like the weapons being on the same arm however, its really bad news for a mech like that.

Yes! totally agree, the Panther needs to be buffed ludicrously to make it even marginally viable

What do I do with my -10K?

ER PPC, NARC. And then I hunt down every ECM on the enemy team and proceed to blast/pod it without mercy.

It's jump-mobile, the gun has good velocity, and the NARC gets the generic missile bonuses including upping the range on the NARC pod.

My initial build was ERPPC/2xSRM4, but after taking it for a spin in the testing grounds I found it ran a little too hot and burned through ammo a little too quickly for my tastes. So I downgraded one of the SRM4s to an SRM2 and added a heat sink, done and done.

I run my 10k with a standard 225 engine, with the stock weaponry (ERPPC+ASRM4). Because I'm cheap, and it works.

The best panther is the 8z, though.
