shadow hawk is terrible for ac20
such a fragile frame for a medium and such bad visibility from the cockpit
the shadow hawks reputation for being a jack of all trades is pretty spot on
trouble with that is its not super good at anything either
it has good mobility because of jump jets.... and thats about it
even tho its a 55t mech you are stuck with XL engines for majority of builds
and if you want heavy ballistic then you are forced back down to a std engine and a much lighter payload
a griffon does most of what a shadow hawk does but better , gauss +SSRM build being the exception
centurion does not suffer from these problems
great visibility, very sturdy platform, chest weapons means you are never a stick and can zombie about
ac20 is limited but gauss and ac10/lbx10 will fit all but the energy spec variant
while std engine is king, a XL sits very nice if you really want to ruin someones day in a hurry
so after all the pros and cons weighed up, the centurion is the go
however you mentioned ac20 specifically
get a hunchback
there really is no two ways about it, not to far off a centurion but ac20 on just about all its variants
4G is the king

I disagree. The Centurion AH with AC/20 and 2 SRM-4s is among the best loadouts you can run on the chassis. The only other IS medium that comes close as a pure brawler is the Hunchback 4G, and that's only if the Hunch pilot has space to pop their cannon around cover. In a close duel, with no obstructions, and a pilot who knows how to arm shield . . .no medium beats an AC/20 Centurion. Most heavies don't either.
I firmly stand by the YLW as the single greatest medium Mech of all time (Shadow Cat might take that prize though). Too many times have I waded in to s**tstorms and come out the other side with 2-3+ kills and 2-3 limbs lighter in my YLW. A weaker medium would have died before it even got in to the thick of it, but not the Cents.
They can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

I only have HBK and CN9, and they play similar. Obvious difference is arm mount vs. shoulder mount. CN9 also has variants with three missile hardpoints, but HBKs have more lasers. Both can lose cannon easily if you don't pay attention. CN9 eats more damage, but HBK is also pretty tanky for its weight.
From the specs, SHD looks more versatile, but has worse DPS because of quirks.

Sustained dps is a close brawl situation id pick cn9A , im fairly sure this one would be the most destructive of all mediums or close to it.
