You need to be a real winner like me and buy it before you even see the concept art.

Some times, but not always.
Better to be a happy fool, then an angry wiseman.

I'd say both are equally BAD, neither being good. If the wiseman was truly wise, then he'd be plenty happy. One mustn't be a fool to be happy. Why make the sacrifice of one when you can have both? =P
(Also, what you said is quite similar to saying bliss from ignorance is better than anger from wisdom. I would rather know that I'm being cheated and be angry about it than be happily dropping money into things. Besides, nobody ever changed something because they were happy with it, always because they were dissatisfied.)

Anyways. March 4th Shadowcat Artwork. Oh boy! Another mech pack the price of a fully fleshed out game. I'll wait for it to come out for c-bills.. By then I will also know whether it's even worth my time getting >_>
I get the whole Free-to-play revenue making scheme of microtransactions, but I'm pretty sure than a minimum of $30 for early access and a few bonuses is no microtransaction. If you could select the bonuses and extras and they added up to $30 then that would be arguable as micro. No.. what PGI's main scheme seems to be is MACRO transactions. I suppose, at least, the content is permanent, unlike games like EVE where a paid ship can be destroyed, gone until you pay again. <-Not that this justifies anything.

The only thing which would really hype me is a couple of new maps and a kind of scenarios where you really feel as if you were on a Battletech battlefield...not in a Solaris arena. Oh wait, Solaris arenas are mostly dynamic and change during the match. My bad..

New CW map coming next patch as well.
4 VS 4 mode in the works. Some new stuff on the table, but nowhere near completion.

Shadow Cat Package comes with two faction content packages. Grab a Smoke Jaguar pack and you have the grey and black paint to give it the darker look you prefer. My Invasion mechs tend to be painted in a mix of Hodrod and Polygon blacks.

I'll grant you macro transactions - $30-$240 mech packages are not cheap. But the packages have always been cost-effective. I mean, even the lowest level $30 Wave Three pack at the moment is getting you 51 days of premium time, six cockpit items, three paints, three mechs+bays, and a C-bill boosted mech+bay. In terms of MC? You'd need to buy a hundred bucks worth of MC to get all that stuff.
