It will probably cost MCs or premium.. ;)

(162 mechs, 6 new mechs in arrival, 50+ modules scattered god-knows-where in my chaotic U.I. 2.0 mechlab)

and I will gladly pay it then.
(about same number of mechs)

2-4 hours of dev work and we never have have this problem...

Be real, this is PGI...
They don't have code devs, they have a turnip they throw at a keyboard until something half works.

Anyway something much easier and more powerful would be if they just made mech loadouts dump to XML every time you click mechlab button.
It will already have a table in RAM, just dump to mechlab.xml.

You can search it with a text editor, "seismic", yeah have to background the game but not a big deal.

The real power in that XML list is that it will be importable into smurfey and other sites/tools.

Being able to import back into the game would be super nice. Require checking the item is available first of course (popup to buy or skip item) but not very hard.
Then we could all ignore horibad UI and use community generated lovely mechlab tool.
That part won't happen though. Only ask for XML export.

Seriously, any plans to get around looking through all 75 mechs until I find it? I hope this is a priority for Mechlab UI 3.0.

Back before I splurged on a bunch of new modules during the sale, I got into the habit of stripping modules when I was done playing with a mech. It was tedious, but over-all, it saved a lot of time.

It would be better if each consecutive purchase of the same module got a discount. That way you could equip all your mechs.

I hate when that happens.

Best way to search is to go to inventory, battlemechs and then mouse hover over each mech and look at what's slotted on the popup window off to the right.

The problem with that is mechs i cant sell dont show up on the inventory to check that way... so lets see... 12 clan Invasion mechs... 4 pheonix mechs... 4 resistance mechs... KGC 000... Atlas RS... Cent AH... soon to be 4 more clan mechs... yeah so thats not really a fully effective method

Really, having modules as items instead of unlocks just feels like we're getting nickel-and-dimed. I know it's supposed to be a situation where you pay for convenience, but honestly equipping a mech with modules generally costs about one and a half times the cost of the mech plus all its upgrades. The immense cost, coupled with the fact that every now and then a new module that is obscenely useful like radar dep comes out making old modules worthless makes it impractical for any player to ever own more than four, for CW purposes.

I don't think it's so bad, anyone who averages a couple hours playing per day and keeps up premium time can have a new fully upgraded Mech about every two weeks.

I posted it as a workaround, not as a solution.

Reading comprehension and context are amazing things.

stuff

For that matter, I wouldn't mind keeping modules as items if they cost ~100-500k each. But it seems a little absurd that if I want to take my 6m cbill KFX-D out I should have to buy 12m cbills worth of modules for it.

And that is the beauty of the system. You don't actually have to BUY them at all. If you really think you need to, then that pressure to do so, is coming from somewhere other than PGI. :)

The pressure to do so is the fact that I own enough mechs where it takes up to a minute sometimes every time I save a loadout change thanks to the awful mechlab UI, which means every time I swap out modules it's two minutes wasted. It's enough of an annoyance that sometimes when I die early and don't want to play another mech with no modules in it, I just alt f4 and go play something else.

I love you.

That's... almost user-friendly. Now if it wasn't tucked away under "Inventory" and you didn't have to click on the 'mech to get the pop-up...

I completely understand how you feel. I've bought like 3 Enhanced Zoom modules, but I couldn't tell you for the life of me where they went. And my collection of like 8 warhorns? Not a clue. Sometimes I'll load up a match in a mech I haven't used in a while and be like "So *that's* where that went." Maybe I should sell some mechs but I can't bear to part with any of them :(

Guys, just do what I did - stop buying modules. You don't need them and it saves you tons of hassle.

Maybe sometime when PGI drops the price of modules to a tenth and implements someting like a usable interface. Not gonna happen so I'll just pass, thanks. I have fun without them.

Just be aware that non-sellable mechs don't show up in Inventory. Mechs like (F), (L), & (P) variants.

If I'm just playing I often don't bother with modules because they're a pain.

For challenges and things I have to equip them, though. They make a huge difference.
