

Fix Your Tournament Scoring - Its Bad And You Should Feel Ashamed

I take it you are trying to create tournaments that actually will increase player numbers. Its pretty damn easy:
Base points on your actual score for a match.
You know, you guys worked long and hard to come up with a scoring system to reward team work more than lone wolf behaviors and then you set up tournaments that encourage lone wolf behaviors.
I don't care how you guys determine a point is given, it could be the top 4 of a match gets one point, maybe some kind of sliding scale where #1 = 3 pts to #24 = 0.01 pts.
I don't care, but when you have players who crank out 800+ damage, get 5 kills + 140 pts and dies to get their team a win and then they get no points, that is pure unadulterated feces and you know it.

Kill counts and damage are not going to help you until Piranha puts those information bits into the game while you are alive.

Then again I guess first person to get XYZ objective will just **** out a thread here and there goes that idea......

You know... they used to have that in Open Beta until the "scoreboard facelift" that occurred around the time UI 1.5 was deployed.
That would help I guess.
Note: The only thing you saw was the kill counts I think, not the damage score.

It was nerve-wracking watch that scoreboard update in last hour of a tourny, hoping some smurf alt wasn't chaining 5 sick rounds in a row in the underhive. xD

Well my new panther and enforcers have 18 monitor panels mounted right in my line of sight blocking my view and they do absolutely nothing but block my view. These could be used to monitor your progress, give you rearview cam or even watch cartoons on.

Base it solely on Match Score, and you earn points to win awards as the benchmarks get higher.
Simple!

Rear view would be nice, damage done would be nice.
Don't some the screens have a kill count that always say zero, did those ever work?

Match Score being modified, along with the broader award system, would go a long way toward making it a valuable go-to score system for tournaments and events.

All things being equal for a match, with everyone getting 1 kill a piece and everyone being lone wolfs except for one lance, lets say on the losing side who did the following:
-Stayed together and fought as a lance +points
-Used NARC/TAG to help their team mates get LRM strikes +points
-Spotted mechs first +points
-Countered ECM
-Shot down UAV's
-Capped
Would be the the guys with the most points. Those are the main team oriented points that were added. There are additional points for hit and run, solo kills etc as well. However, if you are going for max points, you are also going to do the team friendly behaviors because the other guys who are doing team friendly behavior have extra points to their score.
