Then the argument should be making Ferro viable against Endo, Right now Endo has to be on every mech for it to be considered competitive. In reality its just the min/max mentality we live in. I don't have the extra 5 tons so I can't squeeze everything out of it. The current Summoner is on par with the IS offerings. You are comparing it to the other clan offerings. Your argument needs to be broader in scope imho.
When I say stuff like the Summoner is on par with IS offerings I get called an IS propaganda machine - even though I now own the top tier pack for every wave of clan mechs... (Yes Executioner, you will be mine).
This is the truth though.
They are comparing it to clan offerings, so it feels "weak".
Welcome to the state of almost every IS heavy compared to clan mechs.

I would agree with you for the most part. Aside from the DGN-1N and Thunderbolts, the IS heavy selection is rather lackluster (Orions, Cataphracts, and Catapults are especially disappointing).
Really the clans have the strongest heavies (Mad Dog and Summoner being the worst), and the Cauldron Born will only be a continuation of that.
Though the Grasshopper looks to be a great addition to the IS selection and making the Quickdraw even sadder as it becomes obsolete.

It wasn't already obsolete?

I like Quickdraws, but PGI has done virtually nothing to make them "acceptable" in compensation for their overscaling.
It is what it is.

I havn't driven them a whole lot, but from a few matches they were certainly more tolerable than driving a missile Catapult. Possibly more tolerable than an Orion, I have yet to try them out (stupid 50% heavy queue).

I drove them from Day 1. The problem is that I've forsaken them for quite a bit. I'm bad. I'm a very very bad man.

Doesn't make them as good as they were pre laser heat increase. At least they don't feel any better.

The Nova S (for cheese), E, and F are all better uses of BV in a BV limited match than the Prime, A, H, or the sillier variants I won't even mention.
but in TT your fat size does not matter. But here we are in a shooter not a dice game.
Also weapons are fine on the nova its entirely the quishiness caused by size that is the doom of the Nova.
acceleration perk 10% and +15hp for arms sidetorsi and +20hp for CT and you have a good mech.
The mech just needs soem compensation for why it is doomed.
compare int he emchlab the sze of the dragona nd Nova CT and the other parts (ST and arms) the Nova is as same horrible, btu the Nova has 10t less so its less armored. And see what massive hp buffs the dragon has gotten. Or what massive HP buffs some emchs have gotten thats Locations are a lot smaller. And judging this a 15+HP per section and +20 for the CT is not even overdone.
However heat is fine, 12 lasers should never be spamable at all.
Just not sure about ballistics, because the nova truly lacks weight for proper ballistics + ammo. the only help would be unlocking JJ's and DHS, because they are (especially the DHS) obsolete weight for Ballistic loadouts.

when the Clans were released in June, the Nova-S was actually perfectly viable bone stock. More so if you traded the AMS out for DHS.
Now, even with the quirks it is less effective than it was then.

The MPLs got the worst from the nerfs. Even more heat (it started at 5 rather than 4) with reduced range, all for 1 point of damage.
Smalls were adequately buffed for their extra heat, not so the MPL.
Presently it has +1 damage, +2 heat, -30M range.
I'd take the range nerf, but remove the heat for the damage.

The really sad part is that I took a few Grasshopper builds that Greenjulius theory crafted and then built Summoners that could go toe to toe with them.
While ot perfect builds, I was able to get close or better numbers, with the same or better speed and the same or better survivability.
If the Summoner had one or two more energy hardpoints I would actually say the Summoner is the better 70 tonner. (Barring grasshopper quirks of course)

interesting, isn't it, that you are one of like...5 people on the forums that think Summoners are this super secret Uber Mech? Including most of the Comp Players, and premiere poptarts.

Maybe next patch day, we will see through the new laser vomit for fun comparisons.
Maybe next Patch they will just allow I.S. Mechs to have Clan Tech and be done with all this ******* BS. Clan Omni Mech that aren't really Omni.... blah blah blah.
In the end, they ain't gonna be happy until that happens, even if it kills the game dead.

Checklist for a decent clan build
- ERMLs or (LPLs if starved for hardpoint)
- Gauss or ASRMs

except that Thunderbolts are still in actual practice, not smurfywarrioring, generally better mechs even being slower, and GaussJagers, etc.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the the waist high energy hardpoint and one single missile means that the Quickdraw has the advantage with the chest high energy and missle hardpoints.
