Just seems like you never see these guys. Do they interact with the player base at all on the Forums?

Technically the Community Manager is responsible for that.

On the other hand, the only time they come out in force is through excessive whining or another pack is made available.

You know the MO.

Would you want to interact with this cesspit?

I saw Mike Forst post some messages just yesterday in a name and shame post in community warfare. I saw another time last week they responded in the general forums regarding new player tag proposal and how they were concerned that players would be targeted for abuse if such a plan was implemented.

I see people about here and there. Mike Forst likes to post, for example.

These forums are a post-apocalyptic wasteland, abandoned to the elements, and populated only by us savages

Uhm, yes? Have you seen how people talk to Russ when he posts here? For every jackass being rude, there's fifty grown men fawning like girls who get to meet Daniel Radcliffe or something. The MWO community may be toxic to each other, but people basically trample each other to be nice to Russ when he takes the time to post.

I can see how he's too busy to do it himself. He's got a lot to do. But I don't think it's a valid excuse to blame the "cesspit". We're not really that bad.

They only post in original topics, there hasn't been one in 7 months.

Yesterday.
Just because you don't read all the topics it doesn't mean they don't come here.

Whenever they make a new thread themselves, they seem to stick around for the first five pages or so, which is more than they used to. I also rarely see them make a post here and there in other threads, such as the posting of the alt geo Urbie art in the Urbanmech thread.

My experience from other games is that the devs read the forum threads very actively, but rarely post for diplomatic reasons, i.e. only if really necessary.
For example I created a thread about Wave 3 payment issues this week and Alex (Garden) answered in a matter of minutes (and quickly resolved the issue, thx again).

The problem is:
Every word a developer, even a "minor" one, posts has serious weight and posting even a little too much (internal information, personal opinion, whatever) can escalate quickly.
I'm not a game developer, but we have a very similar strategy in our company regarding our forums.

I suggest to think about it like that:
If a thread has a halfway reasonable title, you can be almost certain that the devs will read it.
And if it is really required, they will post as well.

I had promised to buy a pack when voip came in but because of the Twitter thing and their absolute refusal to engage here on the forums I went cheap. Was ready to spend but the lack of trust because of this issue overshadows anything else.

I like islands being a sailor but I can always leave.

Seems many have taken that route.

There's a dev tracker stickied on this board, try that. Not sure if tina is in there yet but she's not hard to find.

Russ has already stated his preference for twitter, as he likes the convenience of having it with him on his phone.

You need to remember though, that our Community manager is brand new, just out of the box, a shiny new action figure.

I imagine she's been reading topics on the boards to get an overall impression of us forumites. Soon, she'll likely unwind from the fetal position, pop a valium or two, don her flack jacket, crucifix and flame retardant goggles (which do nothing), and start her journey towards becoming a battle hardened community juggernaut.

Either that, or she'll end up in a rocking chair somewhere, staring into the distance and whispering "the things I've seen..."

They mostly interact through Twitter (Russ, Paul) and Reddit (Engineers). Russ/Paul occasionally posts on the forums when they deem a topic important.

Russ had a forum posting spree some months ago, but he mostly just got flamed for everything no matter how hard he tried to please everyone, so he stopped a week or two in his experimental forum activity and switched it to communicating trough twitter and NGNG in townhalls and such.

various ones read stuff on here daily, just don't always bother to log in. And several of them, post pretty regular, and reply. It's just that half the posts and demands really are not worth replying to.
