I knew exactly what this thread would bring, and it didn't disappoint.

The problem is that the gap between solo and a 2-man in the group queue is very large. That's a serious problem that needs some solving.

Pugs fight pugs.
Premads fight premads.

I don't see the issue.

I thought I heard word somewhere that in the future we will be getting a lance drop mode where it will be 4 vs 4. That may be PGI's answer to what you are suggesting OP so they may not consider putting 2 mans in the solo que we have now.

Although I don't see 2-man groups being allowed into the PUG queue, I do feel that with VOIP now in the game, allowing a maximum of TWO 2-man groups per side might not be game-breaking.

I play a lot with my buddy and I got to admit that around 9pm (PST), it seems like all the try-hard groups come out to play and he and I find ourselves in groups that either a) stomp arse and take names or B) get are collective bums kicked. Most games quickly become stomps with only 1/4 of the matches actually being competitive.

Being able to play in the solo queue with a 2-man would be a good option if the matchmaker is having a difficult time finding a spot for a 2-man in a pick up game of large group players.

I don't think so.
People will cry rivers if this happens.
Unfortunately, MWO is for 12 men groups or solo queue.

Tell that to my 3 man that pretty much rips it up most nights

i guess you think you are funny, but let me tell you, you are not. i havent read a valid argument on your side that speaks against mixed pugs.

how about when 2mans dont get there way they dc, or when 1 of them dies they dc, or decide to hav fun at ur team expense

then dc, basically u can take ur 2 mans and shove them up ur ass.

At the very least 2 man grouping in the solo queue should be allowed if one account is still under the Cadet bonus.

Yes it can be gamed, but if you want to hop into a trial mech to game it you can be my guest.

There wouldn't be more disconnects than in every other match too. right now i guess only 2 out of 10 matches have 24 players.

I could understand the idea to not integrate 2 man teams in pug play, as long as there was no VoIP. The main argument was the clear advantage of even 2 guys being able to communicate in a team.

on the other side has it been always a bad idea for a 2 man team to join up and be thrown into team play. how often are three or four 2-man teams standing against a well organized 10 man drop?

in addition to this, the waiting time until you can join a drop as a 2-man team is sometimes ridiculous.

What do you think?

Give up mate, the special snowflake queue is here to stay. You'll only get trolled an flamed for asking or inviting discussion on it. We are dirty "farmers" and we should get out into our own separate queue so we don't "ruin" the game.
So you and your friends or any new players will just have to get rolled over by other groups.
Or you'll have to just start private matches and try to teach them that way.

Now that we have VOIP the 2 man groups can coordinate with the larger groups they get matched up with and stop complaining about how much they suck.

Yet League of Legends allow duos in the solo-queue. :D

At the same time, the Space Pope can sort of agree with this post.

It does get pretty old to have to kill 10 mans when you are rolling with less than a lance.

So i started playing like a month ago, i only play with a friend and it's really disheartening. I think a solution for small groups would be a very important thing for this game. I can understand the people who want their solo expierience not being tainted, but 2man groups need a little love.

Hopefully the 4 x 4 mode will help alleviate the problem with small groups have to play against 10 mans.

I do not want to play as a two man team in the solo queue. Many of use like the group queue much better. :)

I've got a good friend that I'm trying to get into MWO, but playing in a 2 man, we just get annihilated every game, and he's done playing, I think :(

We fought for years to get a solo-only queue and we won't give it up now. PGI says it's the best performing queue Elo-wise (and they're the only ones who have the data to say so) because groups of any size screw up the Elo calculations. PGI won't want to change that.

I don't dispute the rationales for keeping teams of any size separate from the solo queue, but let's not pretend the situation it creates for 2-mans is only right and natural. No other multiplayer game I've ever played has created this kind of trade-off for playing with a friend. It's often more fun for my brother and I to play alone than together. That's a silly place for a multiplayer game to be in.

Now that there is VOIP I would not object to 2-3 person teams being dropped, limited to one per side. The biggest reason why the split happened was because those on voice could easily decimate those with out. Now that more or less everyone as access to VOIP on the team, a slight relaxing of the PUG queue might be entertained.
