Wow, those quirks. Power creep in action.

Quirks were meant to lift underperforming mechs to the same status as mechs that were already good without quirks. Now we're starting to see with the KGC, ENF, PNT, ZEU, and GHR that instead of waiting to see if a mech needs quirking, it just comes with them by default; but of course, who would buy a mech without quirks? After all, who plays Jenners, Victors, Cataphracts, and Shadowhawks anymore? Why would you when you can play a mech that's almost the same, but generates -25% heat?

So okay, you have to give new mechs quirks because literally every mech has them now, even though that defeats the point of the quirks system's stated goal. But who's going to buy the Zeus when the Awesome gets +40 internal structure? So okay, you need to make sales, give the Zeus +47. But why stop there, you can sell even more if you give it +47 armor instead, now that's an idea!

Of course, I have a hard time believing that the Zeus is such an abysmal mech that it needed +47 armor on the torsi. If you make a mech and it's so much worse than the Awesome that it needs not only a bigger health boost, but it needs it as armor instead of structure, maybe it's time to go back and redesign the model or the hitboxes.

This is a legitimate argument and concern.

The people in the Announcement thread bitching that the Hopper and the Zeus don't have TimberGod or Doomcrow leveling quirks just nauseate me.

Overall, the quirk system as a whole needs a massive review of how they're implemented and designed. We'll see how the ® mechs quirks evolve, but who knows.

Grasshopper is not DoA. Grasshopper should be OK, but not particularly good.

Zeus is the mech that's DoA.

Just have to wait for second quirk pass.

Turns out, PGI gave the Zeus 83 armor points. Grats for predicting it. :D

Hopper looks kind of tall, and with jump jets should be able to clear the guns over obstacles quickly with a hop heh!

Grasshopper looks sexy, has jumpjets and a bunch of energy hardpoints. Looks good to me. I'm of the mindset that a mech is only DOA if you don't enjoy piloting it though - all the competitive meta analysis in the world can't add fun to a mech if it isn't right for the player, unless they get enjoyment out of the "I'm piloting something the competitive crowd approve of" angle

My only issue with the Grasshopper (and its a personal aesthetic reason mind you) is that the arms, specifically upper, seem too wide and far from the body in comparison to the concept. Otherwise it seems like the Grasshopper and Zeus followed the art fairly close with only minor differences. Seems they put their intern to work on the Enforcer which is why it got so screwed up.
