PGI needs to program MWO the birds and bees of mech interaction. Either that or there is a bug in the game. Every match my mech ends of teleporting around another mech if I get to close. Usually it results in some sort of damage. Which is fine except for the whole teleporting thing. There seems to be a lot of this happening lately. My mech is suddenly 20 or 30 meters in a random direction or I'm trapped inside of another mech for a second or two.

When the LegHumping begins, so does the rubberbanding.

It is known.

It's really funny when you warp across the map for a second.

Hillhumping is just a mech being horribly confused.

Collisions have been borked for years.

It's like the wild west, the last frontier...

...it's mystical or like some sort of alchemy reaction... kinda like ComStar and HPGs.

You can thank dragon bowling for collisions being removed. You'd be surprised what a 60t mech with an xl400 can do for knocking other mechs down. Then you get shredded to pieces while trying to get back up, basically, you get knocked over, you're dead. Honestly, a lot of weapons (AC/20 projectile for example) have a chance to knock a mech over outright, the lighter the chassis, the greater the chance. Thus, I'd just leave this one alone and be happy you don't die from being knocked over by another mech.

Knockdowns responsible for griefing. PGI removes knockdown AND collision.

Classic PGI blunder.

We need collision back, with heavier collision damage penalties for both parties. Perhaps then the noobs will actually navigate the mechs around each other, as opposed to through each other and bring everyone to 99% before the start of the fight. Not to mention, it will allow those who are weaponless to still do damage, by ramming into the enemy at full speed.

Just got out of a match where a Storm Crow was being chased by our team through River City. Finally I'm able to trap it, running straight towards it, guns blazing. It just accelerates to max speed and runs right through me, like some prankster ghost at Hogwarts school of magic.

So much immersion.

as long as there is no real collision system this game will never be considered as competitiv. there is so much randomness when 2 guys walk into each other while fighting. suddenly you appear in the back of your enemy and can do serious damage, the next time it is the other way around. i got destroyed due to this way to often.

btw, a dragon cant mount a 400xl.

also fast mechs should be more aware of their surrounding. running with 100 kph+ against an obstacle...knockdown or damage should be the answer.

Sometimes....... if I'm hunkered down in some bushes or behind a rock or something....

.......and I see two mechs touch......

....sometimes............ when nobody's looking..................

I touch my own mech.

Collision was never the issue, knockdowns were, and ONLY because the Dragon greifers. If they put collision back in I'd be happy, as it would solve the rubberbanding and be like MW4 or running into a building and collisions would actually be SOLID hits, not rubberbanding freakout crap that usually results in your getting shot the hell up without being able to respond to it until its over.

I wonder if they'll fix this long-standing, ridiculous issue before the mythical steam release.

I wonder if they could ever get their hands on MW4's collision resolution code, for being so old and simple, it at least worked without warping you across the map (and handled DFAs!!!).

When multiple 100 ton walking weapons platforms touch, rather than just metal on metal, it actually opens a time warp continuum, allowing instant passage in a random direction. Duh.
