It may seem off-topic, but it's what led me to play MW2 in the 90's...Posted Image

Definitely the Mechwarrior 2 Intro for me... "Bandits are hostile. Repeat. Bandits are hostile." So good...

Mechcommander 1 intro. Still impresses me.

Edit:

YES! I came to post exactly this.

Me being a black guy, I always laugh at the thought of being Hardcase, whenever I get to cocky and die early in a match.

Now that there's VOIP, everyone on the team can hear me say "Ejecting, ejecting ejectiiiiing!!!!!"

I still watch this intro all the time. Mechcommander was such an amazing experience when I was a kid.

Finding that game on sale for $5 at an Electronics Boutique in the mall back in 1988 is how I found out about Battletech.

Best game evar! Why can't someone just buck up and re-create?!

I agree totally. Whenever i hear the "look on the brightside kid..." line from the intro I grin for hours. I loved that game

And of course the alternate cover:

I was always one of those nerds who just has to have the original pressing, the import, the one on blue vinyl, the misprint, etc.

CityTech was the first one I got simply for collectors sake. Fun too tho.

Shoot Victors in the Mech ****.

Yeah thats the one that hit in the 90s that most people remember, the Archer cover was the first edition, that got whacked by the lawsuit in the 90s.

So you got the cool painting of the elementals fighting a Victor with an old Awesome in the background.

And it came with cheap plastic clam mechs, which when painted, looked just like the Ral Parthas. No one ever new until you picked it up.

It was a ***** to cut them off the plastic tree cleanly tho.

But at the time there was no other way I was gonna get a Kit Fox and a Nova.

Years of WH40k has taught me tricks for that, along with decades of plastic modeling....

This is my exact same origins story. Only my copy of the game was for C-64 not PC.

Mine was for the Apple 2. EB had all the Apple 2 games on sale real cheap. They were closing them out, since everyone had switched over to the Macintosh.

What symbol, piece of art, image or music is iconic for you in the BT universe?
MW2 soundtrack? MadCat? One of the unseen?
What one item takes you 'there'?
For me it was the Warhammer on the original artwork of the boxed edition.

What about you?

This song. Installing Mechwarrior 4 and listening to this while reading the backstory provided in the installer window. Easily one of the best installations I've ever seen. Not only did it get me hyped as **** for the game, but it also taught me about I was about to enter.
