I was kinda meh on the New warhorns when I first heard them. They are ok I guess. I want to hear them in game. They always sound a little different in game

The sound of me farting would have been a 1000% improvement on these. Glad I'm not too concerned about these trivialities. Epic fail.

I'm not a fan of musical tune horns, would rather actual horn/siren/growl noises like existing. Music just seems corny.

Not too terrible though, neutral overall.

Who in the office owns the horrible 80's synthesizer or virtual synth program?
Please kill it, kill it with fire.
Get some better sounds all around, far better lasers and bangs and explosions licensed for a couple of dollars or in a $50 pack of thousands of sounds.

Looks like I'll be sticking with the Comstar and Isobaric because they actually sound like warhorns.

Well it seems they moved from actual horns to intro music clips.

I think the entire idea of warhorns is just silly. I have tons of these gathering dust in the mechlab. because i refuse to annoy other players (and myself) in a game session.

The warhorn idea seems like a rushed attempt to create something as content when they were already rushing the initial clan packs (which includes rushed stuff like animations, multiple Clans TCs, IS useless CC, no switchable ammo for LBX, etc...)

I will be happy if i get more premium time as content in the packs instead of these toys.

So the question is... do we now call them "wartones"? Or "warjingles"? I personally like "warjingles".

Someone please tweet PGI and tell them I don't like the warjingles.

View PostTarogato, on 11 March 2015 - 04:21 PM, said:

And no... no music. They're supposed to be "war" "horns".
These are just too long, too complicated, too musical, too synth. Der Walküren isn't any better.

Oh my, really? seriously???? Those are HORRIBLE!!!!!! wow! Music?!?!?!?!? :o

I'm kinda miffed on why they made all of them musical. They sound kinda tacky to me. I mean, it's not like they sound awful...It's just not what I think off when I think of a war horn.

A warhorn should be a very short, impactful, blast of sound... not a musical interlude.

View PostVoq, on 11 March 2015 - 05:27 PM, said:

The clan ones seem much better: the growl of a bear, the shriek of a falcon...
Not a jingle...

I have to agree with everyone else. These are TERRIBLE... I also have to agree with another statement that I saw about them causing instant thoughts to iPhone ringtones instead of warhorns...

More horn, not ringtones from your phone.

Seriously, why is the Davion horn the intro to a local newscast!?!

For this comment, alone, I plan on running Davion warhorns in numerous mechs. This cracked me up!

This.

Warhorns should bellow. Blast. Strike fear through opponents and cause tall grass to sway with their belch.

They are signals, threats and inspirationals.

I love all the posts saying that music is silly and unsuitable, but a random mecha wubfart from a monkey speaker when you kill someone makes total sense and isn't ridiculous at all.

The monkey speaker screams not wubfarts.
It freaks out new players who ask what the screaming is.

I honestly don't know what people expected.

I mean with the Clans you have a distinct animal to base it on.
With The IS you got...what some animals, a sword, hands? I mean I knew they would do this.

I mean at least some of them are reminiscent of their lore origins.

I don't think anyone is saying that they have no connection/association with the Faction they represent, it's just they probably could have gone more down the clan path.
For instance, the "animals" could easily be done akin to the clan ones, Steiner could be a gauntlet striking a surface (I'm being vague because you could do it however you like), a sword could clash/unsheathe/some such thing. Point is, people tend to like them as a way of celebrating your kill, so we expect a sound that has "Hooah!" to it.

I'm not saying my ideas are particularly good ones, I'm just saying I don't think it would have been atrociously difficult to find a blast of sound that felt appropriate but with force/power/etc.

Oh and for accuracy he wasn't gay he was bisexual...

If you'd bought wraith you would have almost enough colors to dress your mech in that crazy suit freddy is wearing lol...

That alone it worth it....

I just hate those sounds though...

Initially I thought they were OK but after reading the comments about them being a theme not an actual horn I kinda see now how they've missed the mark. Smoke Jaguar is still the best one followed by Bears.

I remember the mission in Mass Effect 3 where the reapers are blasting their horns out. That'd be a good one to emulate, too.

More horn, less music.
