Informal Challenge: How Fast Can You Kill It?

Challenge:
Go into the Testing Ground to Forest Colony and ...
Kill the Atlas as fast as you can.
Rules:
No rear shot kills .... you must kill it from the front.
No head shots.
Ammo explosion kills count
You cannot shut down in the process and you must survive (so no fireballing yourself).
No artillery or airstrikes
Weapon modules are permitted
Clan and IS tech permitted
Let's see who can get the fastest time. Time is measured from the start of dealing damage until the kill (or should we measure it from the start of match?).
Hmmm. Let's see. Did I miss anything obvious? If I did let me know and I'll edit. Maybe make it mandatory to post what mech and loadout you used? Right now I figure that should be optional (shrugs).
Ready? GO!

That's exactly what you need to core out a stock AS7-D in one hit. I'm not sure how badly this hits your heat, but if you time it just right, you could smash a coolshot mid beam duration.

Call me crazy, but I'm pretty certain that build runs a touch too hot to qualify.

Yup, beat me too it.

It still all fires, its a common misconception that shut down stops your damage dealing. It actually overloads the last packet, which can be useful in many situations. In the case of ppcs, youre still dead. This is why the PPC Cicada was a "thing". And even after ghost heat, the Hexastalker persisted and still persists for hilarities sake.
It technically says shut down in the process. The Atlas is dead before the DWF is all the way shut down.

Thats not the half of it.
If formatting didnt ruin my spread sheets when pasted here, id show you exactly what builds kill what mechs in one alpha. No mech in MWO is safe.
Its why I keep whining about convergence. If everyone played like some of us, this game would be just as unfun for everyone as it is for my victims.

You can take a screenshot of the spreadsheet instead.

I suppose I should put in there "Must be combat viable" i.e. must have at least a reasonable amount of armor .... not max ... but something you honestly would take on the field and not a total gimmick build.

NVA-12SPL 2ERLL
Three groups, either arm and the ERLLs. Should get a fair bit of sustained fire.
Alternative is:
NVA-14SPL
With a couple additional heatsinks. Fire in two groups, the 2.4 extra heat is minimal.
By no means one-shotting, but it would only take two salvo's to core the Atlas. Moving at 90 means it gets there fast enough too.
Less rich people would....theoretically be able to do the same thing, and deal exactly 156 damage with 2 salvos of 13 lasers.
NVA-13SPL
The PoorMans Nova took 4 seconds with 13 SPLs, and it only touched 75% heat doing that.
The MG variant with 12 SPLs took the same time.
The combat effective (armoured) ERSL+MG build takes 6 seconds, but is acceptable in PUG matches.
Do you need armour to qualify?

I think it would kill a stock Atlas in one CT shot, as well as most player-made builds because you almost never run into a completely fresh Atlas that hasn't taken at least 10 damage to the CT. Even people who heavily front-load armor on them (I'm guilty) usually run between 104-106 armor on the front CT, giving that 111 damage enough punch to usually kill. Even if by some miracle you hit an Atlas with this in an actual match and they survive, their **** will be so wrecked that the next light breeze will finish them off.
Edit: And even better: Gauss rifles generate no heat, so if your near-shutdown after that first devastating salvo, you have a zero-heat thirty damage punch to finish the poor ******* off with. (Evil cackling)

That 106 armor is not counting the internals.

Yes I know. Like I said in the post it MIGHT (after reviewing numbers it wont) strait-up kill a stock Atlas and wont kill a front-loaded player made build. The point is that this actually has adequate armor and might be feasible, and would kill anything besides that front-loaded Atlas, and would do that too if said Atlas had even light CT damage and be able to keep firing the dual gauss afterward.
Jman5, on 11 March 2015 - 09:12 PM, said:
Like I said, didn't know the internal values and was guessing. This was the most pinpoint damage I could get out of a build that wouldn't instantly blow up and had actual good armor values.
I can push it up to 120 damage with a better heat value and three more available tons for atrmor with 2xSRM6, but the spread of SRMs is iffy, and you might be better off with the 111 pinpoint of the first build.

I don't usually use the Forest Colony for tests
But without practice I came up with 54 sec
That is the time mark so it includes time to get to the target
My second best Mech was 57 sec total time
edit:
I got both Mechs down to 51 sec
One I engaged at 457M the other at 579m
One Mech is fast and the other is slow
So I would say the slow Mech probably wins out

You have to shoot through trees so another map would have been better
funny my worst Mech in this was my streak Wolf which took 2:04 min
(talk about nerf)
ok I am at 48 sec with my Light
I would post a screen shot if I could figure out how to do it
