I have a gripe for a post.

I'm finding that I'm not entirely satisfied with the Resistance Pack.

The 'mechs themselves (so far) fight just fine. I've no complaints with their performance, though of course I haven't driven the Zeus or Grasshopper yet.

I'm really not satisfied with the appearance of the 'mechs, and with the extras. The Resistance skin was never pictured in the concept art and was somewhat of a surprise when we saw the sneak peeks of the Panther and Enforcer. Prior to that, the only art we'd seen for the Resistance pack had the 'mechs in Faction specific camo - Sword of Light for the Panther, Robinson Rangers for the Enforcer, and so on. I wasn't sure how PGI was going to deliver these 'mechs in faction camo, but it was certainly implied that this pack would have Faction specific camo of some kind. (And I still want that Arcturan Guards skin for the Zeus!). So having the Resistance machines delivered in a different skin certainly isn't a plus. And, of course, we won't be able to apply the Faction colors to the Resistance 'mechs, which is another point against the pack.

The Enforcer's face, at the very least, needs fixing. This has been covered quite well in other threads.

The Special Geometry of the Resistance pack is terrible. I can look at a Founder's Cat or Phoenix Battlemaster and tell that it's the special version just from the geo, no matter what colors the 'mech is in. That's cool, and it's the look a player wants from a 'special' feature. The geometry from the Resistance pack is nothing more than a few roll bars, barely noticeable at best, and certainly nothing that makes the 'mech look 'special'.

Finally, I'm not very satisfied with the extras. The Faction Packs are OK. I'm really enthusiastic to get the Faction camo. I'm not really a fan of cockpit baubles, but I was interested in the Warhorns; Clanners have had Warhorns for a long time now (most of which have horrible cockpit models, but at least most make decent sounds). Now we've gotten samples of the warhorn sounds ... and that's just the last straw.

The skins, geometry and extras of the Resistance pack have been a uniform, Atlas-sized letdown.

I've taken some small actions with customer service to attempt to redress my feelings of customer dissatisfaction. But I'd really much rather PGI kept on with the changes they'd made in the back half of last year and delivered a quality pack of 'mechs and extras.

Give me a reason to keep buying 'mech packs, and supporting the game, please. Deliver quality product.

Opinions, opinions...
IMHO the new warhorns sounds way better than clan versions (Clan Wolf is specially awful).
About special geometries, aside from Battlemaster, I could never tell then apart on the battlefield.

Custom Geometry is great in the mech lab. Beyond that, barely noticeable.

The custom geometry was sub par. It could have been a bit more unique. It was an odd choice to add giant grab bars all over the place. As a funny joke, people should start photo shopping luggage or other items tied to them.

As time goes by, I find the Enforcer to look better and better. I have a problem with how the 5P is laid out, but other than that, I'm pretty happy.

Overall it is a good pack. I'm pretty happy with it.

The warhorns are alright. The Davion & Steiner ones are my favourites. Theyre way better than the clan ones.

Also, don't worry about your faction skins, Im sure they'll arrive in due course. The Clan Wave II mechs came in standard and invasion camo and then faction camo was delivered separately. Faction camo isnt even late yet, you're worrying about nothing.

You can't see any of your mech when you pilot it, is you're fear and lack of confidence a personal issue rather than a grievance with your mechs appearance ?

I love the look of the RS mechs and the special geometery is just that a subtle change not a total make over. As far as ingame, once a mech is more than 12 feet away you can't even tell it has paint let alone chrome luggage racks. I do find the warhorns rather lack luster and would like an option to trade them in for another horn or premium time.

I would rather they just give me my mech and premium time and take all the extra fancy stuff and put that effort into new MAPS>

I love the extent at which the special centurion went to with its left arm and artwork though im not upset with the R panther. The reason I prefer the 8z is quirks not artwork.

Though I can see why some would feel a paid mech should at least equal a free one in its model and art.

I like the custom geometry "bar" look... I think of it as resistance esque.... "take what you have in everyday life and add it to your mech to make it stronger"... Weld a bar on the leg armor to hold it on for another hit.... or how about weld a sheet of steel on the shoulder of the enforcer to try and add more armor and cover a weak joint.

Honestly, this is my favorite customers geometry yet. Clan Invasion customers was far from ideal.... rounded legs.... zzzzz

Outside the Founders, as a Package, I would agree. (And this is from a guy who wishes he could lose the Barbra Streisand schnozz from hit Founder's Cat).

There are individuals in the other packs that stand out (Mist Lynx , the popeye arms on the Hellbringer), but they also had many outright bad or mediocre or barely noticeable ones (Gargoyle Prime, anyone?)..... or just a bunch or really ridiculously tacky crap slapped on..... and bad paint. Let's face it, the Phoenix and Invasion Paint sucks, HARD. The Resistance is pretty decent.

For me, I'm fine with subtle on this pack.

Not so fine with the Enforcer's head, though.

I would trade unique geometry for the ability to change the 3rd color or apply a camo to these "prime" models

Also we have to remember that noticable changes to geometry (outside of hanging things on it) double the work for that chassie with any camo made... Not a very good idea.

It is a question of balance between the desire for custom geo and custom paint...

Most of the Resistance special geometry is "carbon fiber"-esque armor patches, or applique armor sections. Which I like. Because in real combat vehicles, you'll see s**t like that all the time. They're not polished and perfect and smooth. They're dirty, scratched, and dinged from actually being used. Being shot at doesn't do anything to make them look better either.

If you look at WWII tanks for instance, most of them have patches welded all over, tracks or boxes moved to be used as armor, and sometimes entirely new mounting points to put anything they could in between their hull and enemy shells.

Now just imagine being a Mech pilot, part of a faction getting pushed back by a vastly superior enemy, and fighting tooth and nail for every inch of IS territory. You don't have the luxury of waiting for weeks or months as your Mech gets fixed up to 100%, like you did when the Houses were squabbling with each other. Weeks or months could mean a dozen more IS worlds fall before the Clans. So your Techs work fast and do the best with what they've got, which isn't much. Now tell me your Mech isn't going to look like s**t.

So essentially you are putting up resistance against the resistance pack, after giving in to resistance against buying it?
