I am curious as to who voted NO, and your reasons for voting it.

The proposal is pretty inoffensive.

Wondering why you decided to go against it?

I know what the Elo is, but I didn't know we could see it ourselves. Where is it possible to view our own Elo?

But back on topic- I don't think its a good idea to put things like that where the public can see. Its very easily becomes a public performance scale of an individual that people really will use against other people.

And to say that those kinds of people are just jerks and should be paid no mind to doesn't change the fact that it can and will happen and guarantee it will cause lots of problems.

Just my two cents

Cheers

Not showing ELO makes this a bit too much like american soccer for middle schoolers, where everyone gets a participation trophy.

This game has very very very little in the realm of achievements that matter. Challenges are just time grinds, CW is not completely skill based, and as far as I can tell, the only score in the game is how many planets your units has, which is truly pointless, IMHO.

IDGAF about whether it changes, but I'd like to see my score. A running score per game type and map would be nice, like the old zonestats. I don't think I ever saw someone get trolled over their zonestats, but it was nice to look and see you were #1 at destruction.

Believe me, you know when your elo changes. No more LRMs except for yours. Loose a few for a while and you are back in the LRM area. Do it again, and return to a lower elo. Do it a third time, and successfully adapt to using LRMs at a higher elo.

Then drop with a few new players and see some odd ball stuff being pulled that almost gets you killed since you have not seen it in a long time. I had that experience this weekend and after the first match I realized the situation. Adapted our tactics to a more aggressive posture, ok hyper aggressive, and it worked out with PUG stomps. Then a few more seasoned members of our group joined and familiar names began to appear on the other teams. Like Lord, Emp and we got pug stomped.

If elo is ever released, I would say do it by 5 levels. Or low, middile, high with three designations. There will be tons of people that are middle.
  • Tin - 1-20,
  • copper - 21-40,
  • Bronze - 41-60,
  • Silver - 61-80,
  • Gold - 81-100.

I would like it better if it were an ingame indicator that only you can see, that tells you what ELO bracket you are in - so you have some idea what you might be thrown up against next match: the full-meta-gimmick-abuse-tryhard crowd, or the so-called 'lesser' MWO pilots who can aim and shoot but enjoy mixed loadout matches without consumable spam & JJ-bunnyhopping.

If I at least knew ahead of time what the upcoming match will likely involve, it would make having to swallow those frustrations a small bit easier.

The proposal is not to show your ELO ... it is to show if your ELO has changed.

No numbers,

So it is not possible to use the info negatively. It is only for personal motivation.

Any private or public indication of your actual ELO rating be it a bracket or the exact number would be abused by players. It would either become a requirement for unit membership or it would be used for bad mouthing people on the forums.

The suggestion here is just a way to help motivate players to train and reward them by a feeling of accomplishment if they are improving, without giving them a sense of how they compare to other players and therefore stops the negative use.

I see your point about the little league-rs ... but I think that that kind of data would only work once the player base is very very robust. otherwise it would discourage people who are less 'HARDKOR' as yourself.

My suggestion would encourage players, esp new players which would see a clear indication of progress.
