Just as well. I look at the Summoner and Zeus and I realize PGI is not working from a balanced concept. If the weapons all worked as in Battle Tech they could release mechs with Battle Tech hardpoints and expect them to work, but long range and big guns are so heavily nerfed they have reduced MWO to Laser-Brawl. They stated they wanted more close range combat and nerfed PPC accuracy among other long range things. That skews the game to lasers at brawl range so here we are. Mechs need 6-7 energy slots for the current meta, unless they can carry AC20's.

Anyway, I am still trying to figure out what an 80 ton Assault mech like the Zeus with a heavy-assault missile arm is supposed to do with the one hardpoint it gets on two of the three variants. It's like PGI doesn't use it's own LRMs/missiles or something. But they made them. So you would think that this means mechs like the Zeus and Summoner would be hell'a tough to kill, but no, the Summoner is an easy kill as well. Fat CT with a bullseye on it. Zeus will be the same no doubt.

MWO is so boring right now with only Laser-Brawl competing. (If you drive a hundred ton mech or close you are forced to carry AC's due to DHS 1.4 and leftover payload space from boating lasers so don't show me your FAtlas or Krabs.)

A lot of cool Mechs are copyrighted outside Topps/Microsoft. The Phoenix thing was kinda lucky to get to be honest.

Mauler will be added soon, according to Russ at the last town hall meeting.

As to the rest..Mauler..iconic..huh? It was on 1 box cover for 1 of the multiple MW video game titles, that doesn't make it iconic, the Locust, the UrbanMech, the Timber Wolf, the Battlemaster, the Atlas, THOSE are iconic to BTech/MechWarrior games, both TT and video.

And how exactly is anyone supposed to get HG to NOT sue for use of the artwork for the Unseen, even the Reseen versions can be cause for HG to go all rabid again, even MicroSoft, who make enough money to BUY entire 1st world countries won't mess with that, that should tell you how bad it is.

I support the posting of the Mauler. It's the only mech I would pay real money for, and I don't even play assaults.

Haruko used model parts from existing MWO mechs to make a frankenmech Mauler for MWO's art style. It's not official.

It may not be official, but it should be because that Mauler looks fantastic in my opinion. That being said I am tempted to advocate for the Mauler never being added just to spite the OP.

It really is amazing what some of the forumites can make with MWO assets. PGI should think about asking to use some of those Frankenmech models at some point.

Those Mech's are known as the unseen, due to designs from Robotech/Macross.

What exactly are they doing wrong?

I used this topic to start a dialog about MWO itself not just the mechs I will say The devs have done a good job mostly on maps & mech design some are strange and fugly but overall good mech designs. The legal problems with the unseen could have been eliminated before closed beta and those mechs could have been in MWO.

But the overall game to many that have been long time BattleTech/TT/MechWarrior players and fans is a joke and does not live up to the MechWarrior IP expectations of even a basic MechWarrior game like mechwarrio2 was.

Read my post in 8v8 im not going to duplicate threads RUSS is a person with one bottom line idealism about MechWarrior =minimal viable product and let it ride 3 years I have watched this game decline overall because of lack of vision and the commitment to make MWO a true MechWarrior game like its predecessors.

If you want me to make a laundry list of changes to make MWO into a true MechWarrior game just let me know russ is willing to change the core game design and many will help him but if not MWO will stay a backward boring game.

Okay then, let's discuss.

Comparing MWO to past Mechwarrior titles is a little like comparing apples and oranges. Yes they share the same IP but Mechwarrior 2 was developed and produced by Activision. Mechwarrior 3 and 4 were also developed and published by big name AAA studios. PGI is miniscule in comparison, and has no where near the resources to apply to this game.

Is there a long way to go before MWO can live up to its predecessors (if it ever does)? Yes. There is a lot of content we have yet to see. The game is also fundamentally different from the other Mechwarrior games. I don't think anyone will dispute these points. Is the game making progress? Compare what we have now to a year ago today... I have to disagree that Russ's intentions are to make a minimally viable product. Someone who didn't care could have easily let this die as a failed experiment and moved on to other more profitable projects targeted at less niche audiences.

Since IGP got out of the picture we have seen huge changes in how MWO is being handled. It's not perfect, but no Mechwarrior title ever has been. I used to be very critical of the direction MWO was going in, but not so much anymore. They are listening to us and communicating with the community. They are developing PvE content. They are working on bringing us viable community warfare, and producing new mechs on a regular basis. They are implementing asked for features like unit creation/management, VoIP, and a new smurphy based mechlab.

I understand the sentiment for frustration over wait for all of this, but it's coming, and not SoonTM but for real.

How?

It's Harmony Gold that's sitting on the IP rights, they're the spawn of Satan himself.

Everyone I know that's even a little bit into BattleTech/MechWarrior (or for that matter Macross/Robotech) would be over the moon ecstatic if those f..... just ceased to exist. They've been sitting on that IP since the late 80's denying it to *anyone* and threatening to sue anyone that even *tries* to come near to using it.

Easy ask Russ why he rejected the offer from HG and for so little $USD these mechs could have been in MWO? ASK HIM see if he will tell you the real truth or will it be another fabricated lie?

And what offer was that? Knowing HG, it would've been the keys to PGI....

HG ran FASA into the ground over it, when they (HG) never actually had the rights to it in the first place, even went so far as to piss off the IP holders (Big West / Studio Nu), when Big West / Studio Nu wanted to bring Macross Plus over from Japan... HG has done more to damage that IP than anyone else.

Now you are just making stuff up, but I'm willing to entertain the idea you actually know something. So it is now time for you to put up or shut up and tell us all the juicy details about this amazing cheap offer that HG made to Russ and company. What we know of HG is that they are completely unreasonable, and that getting those mechs has been unrealistic for anyone that has wanted to use them in 20 years. Not even Microsoft was willing to touch them. So please enlighten us oh all knowing and all seeing troll for you clearly know something nobody else does.

Not by a long shot friend HG wanted very little for the rights to the unseen mechs from what I understand. And ask your self what do Big West and PGI have in common? Look up there Domain name history.

Warhippy ->TROLL? is that the best you can do? Don't be a fool and ignorant if you cannot research topics please go apply your ignorance somewhere else.

Then please tell us the details of this amount? As you must know, if you think the most unreasonable company when it has come to this IP is suddenly being reasonable...

Genuine questions... This was never released in the USA, right? Because the only way that HG could go after this is if it was... Also what does Macross Frontier have to do with Microsoft?

Since you already talked to him, couldn't you just quote the number?

I mean, I like totally believe you called him and he let you in on some juicy trade secrets that nobody else even want to discuss having talked about, you're just that believable.

So what was the figure they offered PGI to get the Unseen for? Just quote us the number, you can disguise it by inserting it into this phrase: "My aunt has [insert number here] cats."
