They only have to fight one front.
Poor Wolf and Bear have to mop up and play defence for the future IllKlans.
All you Wolf and Bear excited about dropping against FRR are only being servants of Jade Falcon and Smoke Jaguar. Guarding their rearward borders while they go for the glory.
Even if you take FRR planets, it will simply expand again at some point. Like the last time.
Fighting FRR is only distracting you two middle clans while Falcons and Jaguars will get the prize.

regardless of who takes Terra first it will be a clan victory as it proves that the clans are superior to the inner sphere stravags. The whole "my clan needs to get to terra first screw the other clans" is not productive nor is it good strategy. Clans need to zerg together, when Smoke Jag is attacking Kurita....so too should Ghost Bear, when Jade Falcon is attacking Steiner so too. should Wolf. And when one clan gets close to Terra we should all help them capture it.
A lot of clanners can not grasp the advantage that we have other the IS. We don't need planets, our only objective is Terra....whereas the IS factions do need planets! Planets like Wolcott or Bone-Normen is nothing to a crusader like myself, the only thing that matters is that we have a path to Terra. That is why clans need to stop worrying about the FRR rebellion or if a clan sneaks attacks one of your backwater planets. Who cares! As long as you are able to continuing advancing toward Terra it doesn't matter what they take in the rear.

As I said, Falcon or Jaguar think you Wolf or Bear are chumps. Their goal is Terra and they will make rhetoric to have you do their grunt work. They will "happen" to be closest and thus need your help to become your IllKhan. Enjoy being second fiddle.
There can only be one. This is the lore, this is the mechanics of the game. Pretend you have clan unity if you like, that is not how the lore and game mechanics have set it up.

By winnable vs unwinnable, I was contrasting how the race for Terra is a real achievable goal with an end point, while conflict between Wolf/Bear/FRR has no end point.
The race for Terra IS winnable for clans. Its a feature of the game. It will probably be enabled by devs at some point. If one of you clans becomes the IlKlan, I hope its Wolf or Bear.
Wolf and Bear both lore-wise and in-game are much more honorable than the smug clans at both sides.
I just noticed that Wolf seems to be misled by the fake unity rhetoric by Falcon and Jaguar.
Their lead will soon become impossible to overtake and if you leave it till later to catch up, you will not.

If Falcon gets 20 planet lead and blocks Wolf attack path and invokes no infighting due to "clan unity", race for Terra is game over for Wolf.

Are you suggesting that Falcon would race across Kurita and cut off Wolf?
That we would intentionally pick a fight with the proven powerhouse of the Draconis Combine (with all IS houses willing to support them) while simultaneously having to fend off belligerent Steiners and deal with hungry Wolves looking to cut a path through us towards Terra?
Just how big do you think the Falcon population is that we could do these things? Us and what army?

Falcon hires Mercs. Falcon has many loyalists highly active in CW.
Falcon likes to appear weak but is around 10 worlds ahead of Wolf and Bear to Terra.
Kerensky's clan is getting out strategized by their sneaky western neighbours.
CJF wants Wolves to waste time on FRR while it cuts ahead of Wolf.
I expect CJF to push as deep into Steiner as possible then cut across Kurita to Terra, blocking Wolf.

This is literally already happening

Falcon took 100 planets at our peak. We are not at 100 planets anymore. Wolves have caught up.
Falcon has not hired mercenaries. A few smaller groups have joined our faction from time to time but none of the massive ones. You may be thinking of CGB (-MS- and CI), CW (-MS-), or CSJ (228th).
Falcon is ahead of Bear as they have... declined in population. Wolves have had MercStar twice and continue to push when they are not there.
Falcon strategy is to push down the Steiner/Kurita border to get towards Terra. Nothing sneaky about that.
CJF would like the FRR faction to be eliminated so Wolves can push through Kurita and maybe even get a Steiner border to share the Steiner load. Unfortunately factions can not be "eliminated" so whatever Wolves do is up to them.
We will push to the very tip of Steiner and then go through Kurita by the best method possible. We will have to see where Wolves are then.

Kurita attacked first while we were already dealing with the Steiner zerg. We really want the Wolves to get the Kurita attack corridor removed from our border. Wolves are at no risk of being cut off by CJF.

And FRR does not want the rest of the IS to take the heat of them while they increase their pocket of planets?
Right now Clan Jade Falcon has to deal with both Kurita and Steiner, both with populations multiple times our size. We will fight and beat groups from both. Unfortunately population is king.

Do you think FRR seriously expects to hold on to significant territory for long in the middle of 2 clans?
Nay, its about the good fights.
If we fail in an offensive, we simply return to Rasalhague in our longboats and await a new raiding season.
Like the House Greyjoy words, we do not sow.
Now the clans on the other hand have fixed objectives.
Terra. There can only be one.
You guys can pretend unity, but CJF want to be the overlords.
Clan Wolf may want to avoid ending up as CJF's Lycan slave underclass.
