Don't let my pr0 photoshop skills fool you, this isn't actually something PGI made.

Here's what I'm proposing:
  • Mech pack based on the super popular and award-winning Battletech cartoon featuring Adam Steiner and his Somerset Strikers.
  • Introduce a new Enhanced Imaging module. Ideally it shouldn't really be that good, but it should look awesome.
  • Wolfhound, Crab, Axman and Mauler mechs. The show featured a Bushwacker, but that doesn't make sense in 3050, so we'll use the Crab instead. Unless the rumours are true and PGI is moving the timeline to 3053, in which case the Bushwacker is available.
  • There's no melee in the game, so just do the Axman without the melee weapon and then let it equip a melee weapon when melee is introduced in 2017 or 2018.
  • Some of the 4 mechs don't have 3 variants in 3050, but PGI is already inventing P-variants, so that's not a problem.
Right about now, you're probably asking questions like "Why introduce the Axman without a hatchet?" or "Why introduce the Wolfhound when we have the Firestarter?" or "Why should PGI spend tens of thousands of dollars developing an Enhanced Imaging module if it's not going to be any good anyway?" or "Why risk introducing a horribly OP P2W Enhanced imaging value that can potentially ruin MWO forever?"

The answer is....

because nostalgia.

Thanks to Alex Iglesias (Crab), Bishop Steiner (Mauler, I think), David White (Wolfhound) and whoever drew the brilliant Axman I shamelessly plagiarized to make this post.

Meh, Bushwacker or bust. It was a prototype functional during the Clan invasion, good enough (the Hankyu, Shadow Cat and Cauldron Born already date us to early 3052). IMO the bushwacker is the best looking mech design ever created in battletech history so my nostalgia for that is far greater than for a.... crab.

This show also featured the Hatamoto-Chi in one episode.

It is Axeman or bust.

What would be fun if the "missile doors" opening button caused its axe to swing (even if it cause absolutely no damage).

Also, 20,000,000 C-Bills for a module is completely insane, even if it has a cool name like Enhanced Imaging. That's the price of a goddamned Dire Wolf.

Make it the same spacebucks price as a normal module.

I would love to see this, having the character's Hero Mechs would be something I would pay for.

I don't think so, reactive armor doesn't exist yet in the 3050s.

Actually, I heard that Paul Inouye said that the timeline had been moved to 3053, which is the year the Bushawcker entered production.

So... maybe we could have all 4 orginal mechs from the series. :)

That would have to be the loyalty bonus for people who bought the Zeus Resistance pack!

Personally, I wouldn't mind having the arm with hatchet and no function at all, just for nostalgia. But I suppose there would be fans who would be upset over a huge arm with no function. I don't know what the ideal compromise would be.

Don't underestimate the power of Enhanced Imahjing.

Honestly, they could sell this thing for 5 C-bills or 50 million C-bills, I wouldn't care. I'd buy it regardless.

Aaaand now I'm sad that we don't have reactive / reflective armour in MWO, like we did in MW2:Mercs :(

First they delay the invasion for a year, and then they skip over all the big battles? What the hell? I hope he was just trolling when he said that.

Well, my initial reaction was more like:

"Oh, so we're still doing the timeline thing?"

It kind of lost all meaning when they stopped doing ISN news or other lore-based updates, started doing weekend events and challenges with zero relation to the lore and decided to run CW as a 2-year beta with multiple map resets. How many years can we stay in 3050 untill this starts feeling like MWO: Groundhog Day? How many times are the Clans going to take Terra before it starts feeling like the Matrix ?
