Focus fire has nothing to do with hitboxes.
Firing exposure has nothing to do with hitboxes.

We're not talking about XLs here. We're not talking about huge cockpits here. Everything here is irrelevant to hitboxes. Go to Bishop's thread and argue about not actually knowing it there.

Well one things for certain - they will be very tall hit boxes. It's not like they won't conform to the dimensions of the mech...

Surface area and volume to not scale hand-in-hand. Compare a pancake to a sphere, for instance.

Fat Mechs with Volume X are harder to hit than flat Mechs with Volume X. Same volume, same weight, different target size.

Except people have used the "pancake" argument to justify the Awesome's absurdly large front profile and it's fallen flat on its face... the Awesome is a huge target and the bottom of the barrel for IS Assaults. Nobody cares if a mech is slender from the sides because it's going to be facing you. If that profile is huge, the mech is an easy target and will never be worth much. Again, compare Awesome (wide and flat from the side) vs. Stalker (narrow from the front and wide from the side.)

Yeah, broad frontal profiles suck in a game where the majority of incoming fire comes from the front.

Well, this has certainly been a learning experience.
You guys could've done this too, but I guess I had to be the pretty pictures scrub today.

uh the GHR is tall... he gets spotted first.... then put a narc on its head-missile mount and make it count. you can see the enemy faster too so whats the problem? put a beagle on it + advanced sensor module and its works fine as spotter because of its size.

IS Narc doesn't fit on the head of any missile capable IS Mech (Shadowhawks like the 2D2 and Cataphract-4X as obvious examples). Please check your facts. Thanks. Clan NARC can do that... but we can't do mixtech here (yet)...

play the quickdraws. they can do things a timbergod cant.

Yes, like die quickly.

and so will the GHR be able to.
just dont play them like a timber.

Nothing in the Heavy bracket compares to the Timberwolf, so that's kind of a ridiculous point.

No, not that part.

The part where you harp on the Summoner.

For buffs, for unlocked Endo, for how that is so important for your mech.

When someone else does that for a different mech? "Metawhoring".

That part.

really, so which specific mech was I saying it was blasphemy to quirk? I did say quirks in general are exacerbating the issue of metas have and have nots, at least as they have been used. I have been on record for some time that Quirks being used as a bandaid for real fixes is a stupid idea, and that quirks should always be the FINAL touch.

I'm also being realistic that chances of any fix beyond quirks ain't going to happen. And saying "it's going to take a heck of a lot of quirks to make the Summoner meta variable" is not campaigning for heavy quirks, but making a statement of fact. Also if you pull your head out of your butt for any length of time, you might recall my primary topic is "Free Endo for the Poor" which is for opening up Endo for all Omnis as a baseline to give a more solid balance point to start from.

So,. What other details do you feel like cherry picking and misrepresenting? I'm not sure... does that qualify as you just lying, or being a hypocrite. *shrugs*

Because you're the good guy who put their hard work into hypothesizing about hitboxes.
So consequently, you're also the unlucky scrub that has to take people who are posting in the wrong topic to the right one, and then argue about "YOU DON'T KNOW THAT" in regards to hitboxes there.

Nice guys finish last?

It might have to do with trying to give love to the Summoner that does need some help... but technically is just overshadowed by something inherently better in the current state of game.

Sometimes, by underselling the Summoner (the best-meta Summoner is actually pretty good), you're going to find that person that will call you out on it... even if you hate that build.

I prefer to just talk about other mechs... not just the Summoner. :P

Umm...what the heck are you talking about? Ulti? Psssht. Not worried about him. When he get's in self righteous mode, I largely tune him out. Was talking about Ted Wayz, though his basic point I do agree with, lol.

No... I'm pretty sure Bishop is talking about Ultimatum.

Even then, I'll just plead ignorance. :(

Christ Im glad someone said something, I dont have the sheer patience to retort to such shallow and baseless logic. I already have to deal with that at work as it is.

This is NOT a DOA thread. This is about scaling, as both a game balance, and aesthetic consistency issue. This is about quality control, not 'omg buff grasshopper.' We want proper scaling not quirk buffs. What the title says. Now we know the Grasshopper is VASTLY overscaled, perhaps the most egregious scaling error since the quickdraw came out. PGI refused to fix (or even admit) their mistakes, so our only hope is to catch their attention NOW. Let's try and get a long list of people supporting a grasshopper rescale, then link it to PGI over twitter so they actually read it. Posted Image thank you bucktrossPosted Image

How does it match up to the Quickdraw?

They're very similar mechs, with very similar jobs, I wonder if they based it off that scale.

Might look like this:
Posted Image

Since I don't own a quickdraw and can only preview it on the side, I had to reduce the size to match what it would look like in the home screen (which is the screen that the grasshopper's picture was taken and be an accurate comparison).
After resizing a control mech so that the preview would match it's appearance in the home screen and got a reduction %, I applied the same % to the quickdraw screenshot so that it would be the same size as it would in the home screen.
So this should be a pretty accurate representation.

Edit: I did not realize we were on page 11. Oops. lol

Grasshopper vs. Quickdraw. Bear in mind QD is also vastly overscaled for a 60 tonner.

Zeus vs. Quickdraw. LOLOLOLOLOL. Zeus is 20 tons heavier yet smaller in size. PGI, man...
