OP did state that it'd only be until their mech in that game died.
Several times during the pot o gold event I saw completely fresh assaults sitting in a corner of the map staring at a wall, disconnected. That's pretty obviously on purpose.

really do you want your life to be wasted 2-5 minutes at a time? when you can use that time to solve all the other little bs problems that get in the way of your mechwarrior. and it doesnt help that the game lies to you about how much time you have left to do those little bs things (ooh 70 seconds thats enough time to get a coke out of the fridge...ok who the **** legged me).
you want to punish people, punish the ones that intentionally leg disconnects. sometimes the game crashes (pgi is not known for its ability to smash bugs), or the driver derps, sometimes you need to reboot. all the ssds in the world wont make the game log in faster and reconnect to your game. i always reconnect if possible, and it sucks to find your mech still alive with the exception of the leg that your team shot out from under you.

For the life of me I can't figure out why they did it, maybe they didn't like the map, or they were trying to tank their Elo.
All I know is when someone's in a fresh mech, face to a wall, and disconnected it seems to not be a coincidence.

Face to a wall yeah I hear yah and seems deliberate but if they haven't moved then they probably cant login, its happened to me before where i get dc at the loading map screen and the client crashes I relog and it keeps crashing that I give up and run another mech till this ones available, and well I do feel bad cuz I probably just gimped the team some.

Also see the assaults that disconnect at the start of a match on Alpine or Viridian, and people mention they've done it before.
I really can't see how blocking a disconnect/match exit until his match is over is a bad idea... it means, finish the match or wait.
My other question is, except for accidental/RL DCs, or map refusals... *why* would someone disco? Do they earn anything if they do? I would have assumed a zero-dmg / zero-point match would pay zero...

A kid is hurt... Check
My beer is empty... Check
I think I $#it my pants laughing... Check
My wife is wearing Clan Camo... Check
AFKs happen. I am guilty of it at times but then again, sometimes you are waiting 5 seconds and other times a couple minutes to get into a game... so it happens. Relax!
