I would like to be able to swap parts from other variants of the Awesome 8R but cant seem to do it i would also like to be able to place missile racks either on its arms or be able to mount the lrm5/10/15/20 on top above either side of the head like catapult.

I would also like to point out when im adding parts to this Variant Awesome 8r in mech lab it does not show the part on the mech.
I added 4 x lrm15 and 2 are showing on the front of the mech i added a er-ppc that is also not showing.
It would be nice if the other arm actually allowed weapon to be added like SRM etc.

Only Omnimechs (ie. Clan mechs) can swap mech parts.
The Awesome is also one of the older mechs in the game and doesn't have updated geometry yet. The Commando, Cicada, Dragon, and Stalker are the same way.
