It's a Clan Battlemech....which means it's considerably better than any Omnimech that can ever be released.

As such, probably not. Not for a long time.

Of course we will.

Too much money to be made on that chassis not to have it in the pipeline.

They have a 'unknown to us' release schedule that keeps the money flowing in.

If they didn't, I'd have serious concerns about PGI. They need money.. the Kodiak is one of the mechs that will bring them a fair amount of cash.

Yes...they will eventually release it.

The main hangup I imagine is trying to figure out how to deal with Clan Battlemechs or break lore and just make it an Omnimech like the rest of the Clan mechs for consistency (I doubt that will happen though).

I suppose they will probably keep it as a Battlemech, but have certain components locked just like the Omnimechs to balance it.

I seriously wish people would stop saying that.
Yes, clan battlemechs would be overpowered, but only if they are balanced like IS battlemechs.

If Clan Battlemechs had tighter engine limits and no inflated hardpoints, then they will not be OP, and the ones that have good engines and hardpoints stock would not be that much greater than the best Omnis.

There is no need to shy away from Clan Battlemechs.

What if, stock weapons only Clan battlemechs? Engines can still be changed.

Whut?

If stock weapons only, why would you change the engine? what would you do with the tonnage from a smaller engine/where would you get the tonnage for a bigger one?

To change from Standard to XL obviously, such as in the case for Grizzly. Also, the Kodiak can downgrade that massive 400XL for more DHS or ammo.

Sure.

Kodiak: 1xC-UAC/20, 8xC-ERML, 1xC-ERLL, 2xC-SSRM-6 - DOA

Kodiak 2: 1xC-UAC/20, 4xC-ERML, 1xC-ERLL, 1xC-SSRM-6, JJ - DOA\

Kodiak 3: 2xC-LB 20-X, 4xC-ERML, Targeting Computer - DOA

Kodiak 4: 1xC-LB 20-X, 1xC-LRM-20, 4xC-ERML - lol, DOA

Kodiak 5: 1xC-Gauss Rifle, 9xC-ERML, 2xC-ERLL - "Dedicated Brawler" lol, DOA

I wonder how much money PGI would make selling **** mechs with locked weapons. From what I understand, this was a hot mech before double heat and 1.4 dubs.

Greetings all,

It's listed as a 'Second line' 'Mech.
- So not in the initial invasion wave 'Mechs.
- Relegated to only a few of the Clans as a used 'Mech.

The artists rendering of the 'Claws' was just that 'artsy', they were not functional as melee weapons.
- But the inclusion of jump jets on this massive 'Mech was a game changer in it's function and use.
- Even earlier BattleTech games had this 'Mech as a 'prize' to be sought after, and special missions were dedicated to 'stealing one'. But, again that's quite a ways forward in the timeline.

I could see this chassis be introduced with some of the 2C versions of Clan tech. Should be about the correct time to bring Clan produced 'Mech's forward into the IS locations. As the Clans take Planets that have 'Mech production facilities, intact, they start to retrain and re-equip these factories to build 'Clan' tech equipment. Replacing there supply lines directly from Clan space locations. (but this does take time for the changeovers and training, as well as supplying Clan parts for the production.)

We are currently riding the timeline of 3050 to 3052 according to PGI. Still some distance required before any of these 'Mechs should or could 'make an appearance'.

Note here:
There are still 4 or 5 separate Clan Factions yet to be introduced, each has unique and diverse 'Mech chassis they use and field. So there are quite a few 'New' 'Mechs for PGI to design and build yet.
~ And that's not 'C' versions or the upgrade 2C units. (or some may say downgraded?) Some of the 2C's are complete redesigns and normally larger and heavier from there originals.

Well the Kodiak is an old design - regarding the newer TRO3050U the Executioner should have become the Kodiak - but structural failure with MASC forced GhostBears to make two designs.

Not to mention that the Kodiak is the better DireWolf....never get to understand why clans use clumsy 3/5 Mechs....doesn't seems fitting.

well, given how terribad many clan mechs are right now, with their idiotic locked equipment, and terrible heat scaling, as well as physical scaling (although lol grasshopper, i guess IS is catching up) I dont think it would hurt to have some powerful clan battlemechs like the kodiak

The Claws on the Kodiak are nonfictional, purely there for looks... Also Clans hate getting into melee, they find it barbaric....
