So yes, 4 singles outperform 2 doubles in terms of heatdissipation. They also take up 4 criticals instead of 6(or 4 for clan doubles) but they weigh 4 tons instead of 2.
Always been like that.

"Alphastrike Warrior" is caused by heat sinks adding heat capacity instead of only dissipation. Rather than fixing this design flaw they gave us 1.4x dhs, ghost heat, increased heat on certain weapons, etc. Many of us have been pointing this out since beta but I've never seen them respond to it.

Well, the alpha's themselves I'm fine with. It's just the fact that dissipation is so rapid that you can get away with doing nothing but alpha'ing for entire matches even on the hotter maps and face pretty much zero consequences. My BNC-3M can literally Poke out -> alpha -> back up -> grind to a halt and reverse direction -> poke out -> alpha -> back up... ... repeat ad nauseum for 64dmg pinpoint entire match.

No, see...this is exactly what's WRONG with the game currently. It's not about heat not dissipating fast enough, it's about having the capacity to even get to that heat level in the first place. 64 pinpoint dmg and you dont overheat? Bull...you should not be able to alpha without overheating, period, on pretty much any mech build for that matter. Mechs weren't designed like that. You had your longer range weapons for long range and your short range weapons for up close short range and various other things, you didn't fire everything at once, unless you had nothing to lose and were going to blow up anyway. Alpha striking was always supposed to be used in a last resort situation. The laser vomit builds we see alpha striking what is it, 2 lrg and 4 or 5 mediums and being totally fine? yeah no...that should completely overheat a mech.

This this and more this. PLEASE PGI take notice! I'll also add to this and say that part of the issue is recycle times are way too short on the bigger weapons like PPC's, Gauss, and AC20's and such. These weapons are supposed to (and in like every previous game as well) have a cooldown time of around 6 to 8 seconds, hell sometimes even 10 second cooldowns. Being able to fire these kind weapons every 3 to 4 seconds? and THEN add quirks on top of that? It's mental

Yep, too much heat capacity. In Battletech there was a chance of shutdown at 14 heat. In MWO, the typical Laservomit Timberwolf can safely reach 83 heat without shutting down.

I want to be able to copy the annhilator 1e and have it perform as described. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Annhilator alpha warrior is more exciting and skillful than stare down your target warrior. I want to have to snap shots off and hide my torso.

It does. You have to shoot then cover yourself instead of staring down a target. You have to be precise with your shots. Quick snappy percision vs slow movements.
