What mouse do you use? Are you comfortable pressing more than three buttons (on the mouse)? How do you fire your weapon groups effectively (I guess you can't fire more than three weapon groups at the same time)?

Personally I use this:

Spoiler

It's a Logitech G600. I set G9 and G10 to Weapon Group 3 and 4, respectively. I seldom use Group 4 because pressing G10 disturbs my aim since I have to slightly alter my hand position. That's why I always try to make builds which have no more than three different kinds of weapons.

I use a Razer Naga (2014 edition).
I love the tiltclick on the mousewheel, thats bound to vision modes while 1 - 6 on the thumbpad is bound to Group 3 - 5 (6 is on Shift, i stick MGs and Flamers there XD), the last couple are bound to Consumables.

The button layout is similar to the mouse you have.

Logitech G5. LMB, RMB, two thumb-buttons. It's almost always enough.

I've never needed a sixth weapon group, but one of the number buttons near my WASD usually suffices for a fifth.

When there isn't a good reason to do otherwise, LMB and RMB are usually my left and right arms respectively; firing from cover is easier when you're not wasting ammo or heat.

I use LMB,RMB and 3 thumb buttons so maximum 5 groups for me. I usually use a minimum of 3 weapon groups (I tend to separate arm weapons) while 4 weapon groups being standard and 5 for complicated builds.

I try to keep everything in 3 weapons groups, but...

I use a Logitech G700 mouse.
Group1: mouse 1
Group2: mouse 2
Group3: space bar
Group4: mouse 5
Group5: left shift

Mouse 4 is toggle arm lock. If your curious where JJS are bound to, it used to be Mouse4, now it is "F" key.

Yea, I have crap bound everywhere.

I use a G600 as well, but I find that my thumb rests most naturally on the 1-2/4-5 sets, so I tend to use four weapon groups, though the occasional odd build will use 5 or 6. Also handy for having heat override/alpha/consumable binds within easy reach (7, 9, and 10-12 for UAV/air/arty).

I use a completely standard 2 button+mouse wheel logitech mouse that cost like 5 bucks.

I map the 4th weapon group to the spacebar (alt for jumpjets) and 3rd group is close enough to my WASD fingers to press it without much difficulty.

Don't judge me.

I use a Razer Nostromo, all weapon groups and a bunch of other stuff on the left hand, very intuitive. Don't do any shooting with my right (mouse) hand, I am right handed though. Started doing this way back in Mechwarrior 2! (different controllers though, of course)

I use a 4 button mouse, that only recognizes any two buttons pressed at once. I used to use a Trust GTX35 was thinking of buying it again. I really love the positioning of buttons on that one.

Then you must not be able to turn right when JJ'ing. Unless if you can perform some finger acrobat moves that I can't imagine!

Actually my preferred mouse is like yours (small laptop mouse) because my natural mouse grip is the "finger grip". But I have to adapt to larger multi button mice because I need them for playing games like this.

works good (even for chain fire - makes real fun in chain fire admit) - but maybe just because I'm familiar with it now.

I do weird stuff like this all the time - as a pianist I'm used to jockeying fingers. Sometimes I wonder why some other people can't get used to it. hehe

Index moves over to 'F' key for jumpjets, and you should notice that the rest of your fingers naturally fall along the Home Row, so you can easily turn left or right, or extend your ring finger up to throttle up. =]
