the latest in a LONG line of front loading metas... the small pulse laser.... Ive now seen clan meks with nothing but SPL and CSSRMs, and ive seen an assault with nothing but SPL.... reminds me of the old small laser hunchie and that nightmare.

Wut? CSPL has a duration of 0.75 second. Even the CUAC20, which spits out 5 slugs has better duration than that. Lighter CUACs have even better duration.

Fun fact, all Clan PPFLD weapons are better than IS counterparts in stats. CERPPC > ERPPC. CGauss > IS Gauss.

The cSPL is a pretty good weapon, but it still has under a 200M range. Risk VS reward.

I've seen plenty small pulse firestarters. For months now.
I've also seen plenty C-small pulse on my nova. For months now.
Point of this thread? None really. And that is my main issue with these forums. Has been for months now.

The CSPL is pretty much the only Clan energy weapon cool enough to brawl with. Works real nice against lights in CW.

That's pretty much the main thing to understand with SPL/cSPL: they are decent damage, good heat mitigation, and a very fast cooldown...in other words, the perfect close range brawling weapon to utterly ruin someone's day.

Provided you can get right on their doorstep, since the weapon is utterly useless at anything resembling range. It's perfectly reasonable to boat SPLs and other short range weapon since it is, As Mcgral noted, a completely risk vs reward build. You risk being caught at long range, or having a team that camps thus negating your ability to fight, hoping for the reward of being able to close on opponents and shred them.
