Maybe. But this is the Interwebs. You never know whether it's sarcasm or a nutjob.

Good point, he is a Goonie so it could actually be non-sarcastic....

Personally, I think the concept or LRMs is a nice tactical element, but honestely: how can one be a "good LRM pilot"?
Does he press R real smoothly or something?
I played LRMs myself a lot in the beginning and the only skill you can possible have is to not fire your missiles into obvious cover. Oh and MAYBE even be smart enough to chose a King Crab over a Locust as the target.
The real skill stuff is up to the team mates (scout targets, hold locks, report targets in the open, don't die in the process).

Gets his own locks, calls targets, fends off lights by himself (in a Stalker, try that sometime), etc. I very rarely worry about LRM's, but when I see him on the opposing team, I know I'm in for a good fight.

What?
Novakaine laughs at you Wolf cub.
As far as the my R key it just presses itself because the R key loves Novakaine.
But your'e right about one thing wolf cub it is a team effort.
And Novakaine is gracious and always thanks his team for their support.
I remember when I bought Novy jr. his first Catapult.
Novy Jr exclaimed, "Why are they laughing at my mech Dad?"
Novakaine told Novy Jr, "Ignore em son they just don't know any better."
Because........

It's official now, I'm buying myself a HBK-4J! This thing kills!

Now I can return the favor by unloading my ******* on unfortunate faces mwahahaha.

The LRM force is strong in this one.
Don't forget the cool down and target decay.
NASTY.

If you think pressing R is the only skill involved in using LRMs, I'm not surprised you're asking that question.

A good LRM pilot
* doesn't waste LRMs needlessly on tenuous locks or targets in cover
* uses TAG to get his own locks if nobody else provides, and to defeat ECM
* knows the difference between chain-fire and salvo-fire, and when to apply which
* uses cover to defeat incoming fire, but knows that LRM accuracy goes down the drain without LoS
* uses Artemis to further tighten the volleys fired with LoS
* prefers to fight at 300-500m, in LoS, so probably uses a fast, sturdy 'mech
* doesn't mind using direct-fire weaponry to complement the LRMs

There's more, but that should get you started on why there's more to LRMs than just pressing R.

Sure, you can just press R, but then you're never going to be "a good LRM pilot". You're just going to be chucking missiles at rocks, trees, and terrain - wondering why LRMs are so OP when the enemy uses them but so UP when you do.

And that why you sir are LEGENDARY!

Since everyone seems to write in third person,

El Piro should have made a screenshot of his kills:1 damage:1 score.
Client crashed so I got late to the battle, in a locusts, hit the last enemy with my machine gun. :)

Well, sometimes your team loses, sometimes it is winning. Can't have two winners at the same time.

Greetings

El Piro

Just did that earlier today. And the other team was competent, mostly. When Grumpy works, it works.

Stomps are not actually a sign of bad matchmaking, they are a consequence of the snowballing nature of MWO matches.

As has been explained by a programmer (Karl Berg iirc, but may have been someone else) in a NGNG podcast, the likelyhood of stomps go UP when the standard deviation of ELO within a team is low.

That is not to say that stomps are fun or a good thing in any way, but they are not evidence of bad matchmaking.

Yeah it's a torso twistin lrm brawlin monster mech.
Just keep the range to a few hundred meters and watch the tears fail.
Novakaine highly approves.
PS, but keep this a secret the Orion - VA, dakka, lasers and lurms.
Most satisfying.
OK no more secrets Noakaine loves being the King.

IS has no ghost heat at all and can stack all the large lasers they want IS is bullshit OP when you look at the real battletech universe it should take 2 IS mechs to take out one clanner at the start of the invasion it needs to be way more challenging on IS. Add in the quirkening b.s. and this isn't even battletech any more not to mention you have again the 30-40 year old fat wastes of society still living with their parents players that like to take this so seriously to them it may as well be real. To them I only have to say it's a game play for fun and go out and do something with your lives in between or get the hell off the planet if your not helping out or contributing you are only in the way of progress.

I just roll with the punches in the pug queue.

I would rather they spend time fixing hit registration.

fifth 12-loss streak in 3 days. MM, other than being badly implemented, simply cannot work with this population; it is not big enough. I just keep losing even I should have already reached ****-tier level. No matter what I try to do and in whatever 'mech. Grinding XP is a pain in the ass even with the premium time from lucky charms.

Yeah. Ok.

I took an alt account. Picked the trial Stormcrow: LPL, 2x MPL, LBX 10, no heatsinks whatsoever, pretty terribad build competitively, admittedly good chassis, though. Of course, no efficiencies or modules.

And the first match.

Nobody in either team seems to have any remote idea of what they should be doing in the game. Nobody can shoot straight with lasers or ballistics, few people target enemies, nobody torso twists. Lights stop in front of you to fire their weapons. Nobody sticks with their groups.

The result:
Posted Image

I could've probably gotten a few more kill shots if I would've played a bit more carefully, I'm not used to shutting down every other time I shoot my lasers.

This was a completely different game compared to what I get on my primary account. Ever. And I'm not the best player in the game. I think it's pretty safe to say, there is enough population for matches with quite a large variation in skill levels.

If you lose all the time, either you're not at the bottom, or you are and need to play better. And what's asked, is not much.

Game is not broken. Population is not too low. Excuses are excuses.
